A message from the Chief Financial Officer
Dear GLOBE Community,
I am pleased to present The GLOBE Academy’s 2022-2023 Financial Audit. For the ninth year in a row, GLOBE has received a clean financial audit, free of any findings. You can find a copy of the report here.
Strong financial management is a key driver of the success of a charter school and allows us to continue to invest in our human and capital assets. A long track record of strong financials also allows us greater access to financial markets to support our long-term growth.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions by email.
Regards,
Denise M. Clayton-Purvis
Chief Financial Officer

Click here for full details. If visiting in person, please check the LC Lost and Found for any items that may belong to you.
Community Circle
November's Community Circle was held on the Friday before Thanksgiving break. The students who were recognized at this month's event were Tavi Heffron, Claire Tolbert, Samsundor Mridha, and Mason Nibbs. Well done to all of them!
Field Trip to The Center for Puppetry Arts
This week Kindergarten visited The Center for Puppetry Arts to see the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer puppet show. Students learned about holiday traditions, including learning more about the story of Rudolph and Christmas. The story connects to GLOBE's CREST values, with its themes about inclusivity and respect for people's differences.

Winter MAP testing will occur on Tuesday, December 5 and Wednesday, December 6 for second and third grades. It’ll occur on Thursday, December 7 and Friday, December 8 for Kindergarten and first grades. Rolling make-ups will begin on Wednesday, December 6. Please ensure your child eats a healthy breakfast each morning and gets a good night’s rest the evening prior to testing.

MAP testing at UC next week
MAP testing will take place in the mornings next week. Please make sure that your student(s) arrive at school on time.
Please ensure that your child(ren) are dressed warmly
In order to expedite morning carpool at UC, we begin moving cars at 7:20am. The first students to exit their vehicles at the front of the line are required to wait outside until the school doors open at 7:30am. Please make sure that your student(s) are dressed warmly for this potential 5–10 minute wait as we enter the cooler winter months.
Contacting your student during school hours
Throughout the week there may be times when you need to contact your child during school hours regarding various after-school activities. Please note that we are not able to pull students out of class to make or receive phone calls, unless it is an emergency. Any messages left for students are emailed to their teacher who will pass on the information and have the student(s) reach out when they have a break in the curriculum.
6th grade students hold a mock election
To mark yet another pivotal South American election, 6th grade Social Studies held their own mock election on November 15. All middle school students and staff were encouraged to vote. Valeria Thimann and Carmina Rho were appointed UN observers. In the mock election, Massa got 123 votes and Milei got 42.

The lost and found is bursting at the seams. Please come by to check for missing items. As the weather gets colder we want to make sure everyone has what they need to stay warm. If you would like to volunteer to help organize the Upper Campus lost and found, please sign-up here.

Students audition for All-State Chorus
Six chorus students made history by being the first class of students from The GLOBE Academy to audition for Georgia Music Educators' Association All-State Chorus. The audition includes learning a solo, singing 3 types of scales, and sight reading (performing music they only have 30 seconds to review). 5,800 students auditioned for the chorus and less than 10% will proceed to the 2nd audition. Sylvie Hooper will represent GLOBE at the next phase of the All-State process. Please join us in congratulating all the chorus students who have embarked on this amazing journey. Lost and Found: Please label your items!
Parent volunteers return labeled items to the owner's classroom. If your items are not labeled, they may never make it back home. Please take a moment to find a labeling solution that will work for you. Here are some ideas to get you started: Avery No-Iron Kids Clothing Labels, Sharpie Fabric Marker, and Mabel's Labels (customizable labels and stamps, dishwasher and laundry safe. Enter "The GLOBE Academy" in the "support a fundraiser" field, and they'll donate 20% back to GLOBE!).
Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!

Yearbook
Ollie is a wise owl. He ordered his 2023-2024 yearbook early.
Here are two great reasons why you should order your 2023-2024 yearbook today.
You are guaranteed to get a book. Last year, we ran out.
If you order here right now, you won’t have to worry about it for the rest of the school year.
Do you have great photos of GLOBE students doing GLOBE activities? Please send them to us through ReplayIt. If you have trouble with ReplayIt, you may email photos to yearbook@theglobeacademy.net. You must identify the students in the photo and their grade.
Board of Directors
Thank you to everyone who attended our special board meeting on Monday. The next Board of Directors meeting will be held at Upper Campus on Monday, December 11, at 7pm.
