Hello 1st Graders & Families!

Welcome back!

Wow! It's hard to believe that summer is over, but we couldn't be more excited for BACK TO SCHOOL!

We loved getting to meet each of you during our "Back to School Meetings" last week! This week we will continue getting to know each other and work on building our classroom community. Our goal is to provide a SAFE and FUN learning environment for EVERYONE!

Daily Reminders:

*Please be sure to return all beginning of year forms ASAP!

*Don't forget to bring a water bottle daily.

*Remember to bring your green folder to school each day.

*Don't forget to pack a healthy snack for snack time!

What We are Learning this week!

Phonics: I can decode and spell words with short 'a'

Reading: I can retell a story including key details.

I can ask and answer questions about key details in a text,

Math: I can add and subtract within 20.

Writing: I can write to inform.

Social Studies: I can explain why rules are needed in the home, school, and community.

Health: I can communicate to express my emotions.

What are you reading about today?

Reading is one of the best ways to help us grow as learners.

Be sure to make time for reading every day. We will send home a new book with your child every night. Please take time to read this book with your child at least 3 times and ask them questions about the story. Rereading a book is a great way to build reading fluency.
