Secondary Update

Incoming Sixth Grade Orientation

On Thursday, March 12, 2020, the fifth grade students from Briarwood, Pinewood, and Westwood will be visiting WWMS for Incoming Sixth Grade Orientation. Students will be bussed to the middle school. While at the middle school, they will be given a tour of the building and will spend some time with some of WWMS' student leaders and staff learning about WWMS. Later that evening, there will be a parent orientation meeting in the auditorium. Academic requirements and other important information will be shared. A self-guided tour of the building will be an option at the end of the parent meeting.

PSAT 8 Testing

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, WWMS administration and the counseling staff met with our eighth grade students during advisory to review PSAT 8 testing procedures, expectations, etc. Only eighth grade students will report to school on the day of PSAT 8 testing, which is Tuesday, April 14, 2020. PSAT 8 testing will take place from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and then students will report to lunch. After lunch, the WWMS Counseling Department has organized a Career Day for our eighth grade students. The MDE's OCTE (Office of Career and Technical Education) requires middle school students to continue to acquire knowledge about careers, post secondary, and employment opportunities. Our Career Day will be a perfect opportunity for our eighth grade students to gain this knowledge!

Enterprise completed a "deep dive" yesterday during the PLC held at Enterprise. The teaching staff worked to identify areas in our curriculum that we will need to address immediately before the May, 2020, testing cycle. Teachers worked in all three areas (Math, English, and Science) for all grade levels (nine through twelfth grade). Presently, we have completed almost all of our classes. The updated training and new reports sponsored by NWEA have been extremely useful while completing this project.

As this week closes, Enterprise has nine graduates. There are possibly ten more students that can complete graduation requirements by the end of the Third Quarter.

Also, the Enterprise staff has been gearing up for the upcoming SAT/ACT Work Keys and M-Step testing for juniors, the PSAT 10 testing for sophomores, and the PSAT 9 testing for freshmen.

Finally, speaking for all students and staff, we would like to thank the school board and all of the lead administrators for the new classroom desks, the new lunch room tables, and the new work tables the district recently purchased for students and staff.
