FAQ: Test to Stay

Keeping students in a face-to-face learning environment is one of our priorities, and voluntarily participating in Test to Stay is one way we can help with this goal.

Per health department guidelines, students who have been in close contact with fellow students and/or staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 must quarantine for 10 days. Test to Stay allows close contact students to continue face-to-face learning by taking a rapid test on the morning of days 1-5, 7 and 9 after exposure.

Beginning Thursday, October 14, members of the MI National Guard will begin assisting BCPS with rapid testing procedures. This will help ease the burden of school staff who are spending several hours each day coordinating test sites. We are initially piloting this program at Handy Middle School. Beginning Thursday, students at any school in the district who are participating in Test to Stay can choose to get tested at Handy Middle School, or get tested at their respective school building.

Post-Secondary Fair coming to BCW October 12

On October 12 from 4PM - 6:30PM, representatives from the Armed Services, Greater Michigan Construction Academy, the Bay Area Community Foundation, various college admission advisors and others will be on hand to speak with families about post-secondary education options.

Interested families can arrive anytime during the 2.5 hour Post-Secondary Fair. Contact Bay City Western High School with any questions.

BCPS Job Fair: October 18

Bay City Public Schools is hosting a Job Fair for support staff positions on Monday, October 18 from 5:30PM - 8:00PM at TL Handy Middle School. We are hiring staff in several departments, including clerical, transportation, daycare, nutrition services, educational assistants, and more. Check out details here.

Bay City Public Schools wishes to thank Maier & Associates Financial Group for donating to several of our classrooms, providing items on the "wish list" of teachers in our district. Recently, Mrs. Kohn and Mr. Richards of McAlear-Sawden were gifted items for their classrooms.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month

Meet Logan Zieroff. He's a 5th grade student at Auburn Elementary School who was diagnosed with dyslexia in 2nd grade. Logan's mother is a 5th grade teacher at Hampton Elementary, and wanted to share his story to bring awareness.

"Logan is thriving," says Danielle Zieroff. "He is a product of an amazing special education effort by Bay City Public Schools. Logan is very aware of his disability and very easy to talk to about it."
