Test Tips for Parent - Student Discussions
Practice at home - Item samplers provide examples of the types of questions that are on the test. These can be accessed at home and practiced. You can find item samplers for each grade on the PearsonAccess website. http://minnesota.pearsonaccessnext.com/ and click on preparing for testing. Online test tutorials are also available.
More information on the MCAs can be accessed on the Minnesota Department of Education Website. http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/fam/tests/.
Parents of 11th graders should have a conversation with their child and check-in to make sure they are signed up for the appropriate test. The majority of the students take the ACT, but taking the ASVAB is also an option.

THS Cobra Academies
OUR GOAL
To help students develop the skills, knowledge, and dispositions needed for success after high school.
OUR APPROACH
This approach focuses on a student-centered curriculum based on personally relevant content. Our Academies will provide a framework for implementing the principles of the Triton Profile of a Graduate while embedding the career experiences and principles needed to be career-ready.
WHAT ARE ACADEMIES?
The Triton Cobra Academies will combine a curriculum built from state standards-based learning targets with opportunities to explore career fields, career clusters, and pathways. Upon completion of the Triton High School experience, all students will have experiences that have addressed the necessary learning targets through a platform that is engaging, relevant, and career-focused.
Students can graduate with an Academy Medal and Certificate by completing the required coursework for that respective Academy and by completing an approved Senior Project/Capstone Career Experience.
To help our students navigate this journey, the Triton High School counselor and their advisor will work with each and every student to develop 4-year plans and career plans that revolve around student interests, strengths, and passions.
WHY ACADEMIES?
College may not be the best fit for every student.
Education is not a “one size fits all” endeavor. Student interests and passions are extremely diverse. We needed a program that reflected this individuality.
The cost of attending a four-year college continues to increase at an alarming rate.
We have a tremendous amount of industry opportunities in our Triton Communities.
College is an appropriate pathway for some students. These individuals need access to college-level courses in our school environment.

Driver's Education Options
St Joseph Driving School is available for behind the wheel instruction with pick up and drop off at home or school. Students or parents may call 507-259-7675 or 507-634-6293 to set up driving instruction. They are not offering classroom instruction at this time. Through June of this year, online classes are being offered by most driving schools within the state of Minnesota. Students are then free to contract with any driving school for behind the wheel practice.
