BUS RIDER:

• Please be patient as the Bus Garage is working out routes. Pickup and drop-off times may vary slightly for this first week.
• Please help your student to learn their address. Practice, practice, practice. Until he/she knows his/her address by heart, write your student's first and last name and address on an index card for them to keep in their backpack.
• If your student is to be a bus rider and a bus is not coming by your house, please make sure to let Mrs. Shanna know at the front office so that she can check in with the Bus Garage.

K-5 CAR LINE:

• Morning car line begins at 7:15 and ends at 7:35. It is VERY important that you are not late. After 7:35, you will not be able to access the car line because we will be preparing to begin PreK's car line. If you are running late, please park at the front of the school and check your student in through the front office.
• Afternoon car line begins as soon as we have buses dismissed, typically 2:45ish and ends around 3:05. As expected, Friday's car line took longer than normal. To help students be prepared, please make sure your student knows his/her car number and the color of the car that will be picking them up. Students not picked up on time will be taken to the front office to be picked up this week.

PreK CAR LINE:

• Morning car line begins at 7:45. Instead of walking your student to the door, please get your student out and wait at your car. Staff will come to you to get your student. This will help us to make sure we do not have cars backed up on Hwy 251.
• Afternoon car line begins at 2:15. Please work with your student on being able to fasten seat belts and car seats.

K-5 - 7:15am: Car Line and Bus Line Start

PreK - 7:45-7:55am: Car Line. Students arriving after 7:55am will need to be checked in through the front office.

K-5 - 7:35am: K-5 Tardy Bell. If you arrive after 7:35, your child is tardy and will need to be checked in through the front office.

***The end of the day is hectic. This gives us ample time to get the notes to the teachers.

2:20pm: Deadline for Check-Outs--After 2:20pm, go through Car Line

The following reminders will help keep our K-5 car line running smoothly and efficiently:

1. Please create two car lines and stop at the cones until directed to pull forward.
2. When directed to move forward, please stop at the next set of cones. There will be someone there to direct you.
   
3. Have students sit on the passenger side of the car for loading and unloading purposes. This is also for their safety.
4. Keep the distance between you and the car in front of you at a minimum. This will ensure we get all students loading the cars along the sidewalk. Please don't stop where you see your child, go ahead and pull up behind the car in front of you.
5. Remain in your car. Staff will open doors for your child if needed. If you need to buckle your child, please pull into a parking spot and buckle so the line can continue to move.

PreK Car Line Reminders

• All parents will use the PreK Car Line that enters the campus from Hwy. 251 and exits to Johnson Rd. to drop off and pick up. Please do not park in a parking lot at the front or the back of the school and walk your child over.
• All PreK students will enter in the AM and exit in the PM through the doors at the back of the school.
• This will be a single car line. NO PASSING.
• Please pay attention to the staff on duty to guide you.

TITLE I STATUS

We are a Title I School. Our status as a Title I School is determined by the percentage of students who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Title I Schools are provided federal money based on their rank of the percentage of free/reduced lunches within our school district. This money provides schools with the necessary funds to hire staff to reduce classroom sizes or interventionists who work with students to close achievement gaps. This money also is used to purchase items or programs to help the students become more successful.

I say this to say that it is highly important for everyone to fill out the lunch forms regardless of whether you think you will qualify or not. We could be missing out on much-needed funds just by a few families choosing to not fill it out.

If you haven't already, please sign up to see if you qualify for free/reduced lunch at https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/PickDistrict. The link is found on our webpage www.johnsonelementary.org and on the District webpage www.lcsk12.org. Choose "Alabama" and then choose "Limestone County BOE" for our school district to start the application.

PARENT LIAISON: Have you fallen on hard luck and need some assistance? Our parent liaison, Mrs. Natosha Parker, is here to help! Please contact her by calling the school at 256-233-6665. Her office hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-2:30pm.

Our Parent Resource Room is ready for you to peruse and check things out!

BACKPACK BLESSINGS: This is a wonderful program we have that we offer to families in need. Backpacks of food are handed out at the end of the day on Friday. Please contact our parent liaison, Mrs. Natosha Parker, if you are in need of this blessing for your child.

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES: If you feel your child could use some school-based counseling or you would like some recommendations for outside services, please see our school counselor Dr. Lizzie Russell. elizabeth.russell@lcsk12.org.

GET INVOLVED!: PTO welcomes you to become an active member. Dues are only $5 to become an active voting member. Participating with your family in Family Fun events, volunteering to plan and prepare school events and fundraisers, and donating items for Harvest Festival and Teacher Appreciation Week are just a few examples of how we get involved at school.
