Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
We hope you are surviving our chilly week and have been navigating through it all safely! Our BHS students were quick to get into the building on Tuesday and Wednesday as I noticed that many of them were actually wearing coats! And of course, today’s bonus SNOW DAY is always more of a hit for students than it is for parents! We hope everyone stays safe today and enjoys the weekend.
There are several VERY IMPORTANT messages in this newsletter that deal with time sensitive meetings. If your student plans to take part in a CCP course next year, you must attend the mandatory CCP meeting on February 7th at 6:00 p.m. Our parent/teacher conferences will be held on February 7th as well. Please sign up via the link that’s noted below. Our parent scheduling information night will be held on February 22nd for our current 8th-11th grade students. Please plan to attend as we begin scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about any of these important meetings.
Thank you for trusting us as we work with your students every day. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
In service to our Bulldogs.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING
- BHS February 7, 2024 Transition Fair
- Parents must drop off students in the drop off line. We are now blocking the crosswalk between the sidewalk and the front of our building as we are concerned about our students' safety. When cars cut through the area between the sidewalk and the front of the building after we've cleared students through the main crosswalk on Bulldog Way, our students are put into a very dangerous situation. Thank you for following the drop off expectations that were communicated in the September 1, 2023 edition of The BHS Express.
- Graduate Services will be at Live Oaks to meet with Batavia Seniors. Please reference this link for more information:Live Oaks Graduate Services Information

2024-25 FAFSA Update:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2024-25 academic year has undergone many changes, been updated for 2024, and is currently having a "soft launch". The website is up and running, but will be temporarily shut down occasionally for maintenance and updates. Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources as they are received.
Here is the link to a short video that explains what the FAFSA is: What is FAFSA?
We have also included the link to a slightly lengthier video that explains the entire FAFSA application process and answers many of your questions: The 2024-2025 Financial Aid Process
The student, as well as the parents/guardians must have their own FSA ID to begin the FAFSA application process. Here is the link to create your FSA ID: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Lastly, here is the link to begin your FAFSA application: StudentAid.Gov
Updated Scholarship List:
Another option to look at opportunities for additional funding for college is by applying for scholarships. BHS Guidance updates this list regularly as new scholarships are shared with us. Here is a link to the most recent list that is shared with all seniors: Scholarship List Updated 1/5/2024
