Here are some reminders for this week:

Friday, January 14, 2022, is a minimum day; dismissal is 1:00 pm. It is a teacher planning and collaboration day.

Monday, January 17, 2022, is Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday - No classes on this date. School resumes on Tuesday, January 18, at the regular hours.

Please talk to your student about on time to their classroom for every class period. We need our students in their seats to start learning on time.

Hueneme Elementary School District distributed COVID-19 Testing Kits on Sunday, January 9, 2021, from 9-2:00 pm. The HESD home testing kits/box include two tests. Each student is eligible to receive one free package/box. Please be aware that GREEN is in the process of creating an alpha student schedule for families to pick up their kits on our campus. You will receive a text notification with details about the date and time assigned for you to pick up the COVID-19 test kit. Please follow the pick-up schedule to prevent crowds during this pandemic.

GREEN will have a master list indicating who needs to pick up their kit. The roster will show us the students who have already received their kit/box. We will NOT be distributing extras at this time.

Our Hueneme Elementary School District has prepared a series of Healthy Mind - Healthy Body topics. The workshops are designed to help parents understand the importance of mental and emotional health. Logrando Bienestar presents it - Achieving WELL BEING, VENTURA COUNTY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH in collaboration with Hueneme School District. It will be starting February 15, 2022, 6 - 7 pm.

Topics will be:

February 15 - Achieving Well-Being

February 22 - Stress and Anxiety

March 15 - Emotions and Depression

March 22 - Bullying/Intimidation

March 29 - Substance Use

April 19 - La Clave

Your student SHOULD NOT attend school if they have ANY of the common COVID-19 symptoms.

Students are to stay HOME if:

-If your student does not feel well, keep them home.

-If your student has any COVID-like symptoms, keep them home.

-If your student is unvaccinated and was a close contact to someone who was COVID positive, they must quarantine at home even if they do not have any symptoms.

-Students must quarantine for 10-days from the date of exposure, or 7-days if they have a negative PCR test that was collected on day-5 after exposure.

-Thank you for keeping our school community safe.

NO home tests or antigen tests accepted. Our district testing sites use PCR tests. See below about District COVID testing location days and times.

Testing is available to all HESD staff and students ONLY. The testing site is paid through special state grant funds, therefore it is NOT available to the public, including staff and student family members who are not associated with the District.

ENGLISH SPANISH

There are two testing locations:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: Blackstock Junior High School, 701 E. Bard Road

Tuesdays and Thursdays: Haycox Elementary School, 5400 Perkins Road

Testing hours are10:00-4:00 at each location. Both testing sites are walk-up only, no appointments necessary.

To register your GREEN student for COVID testing please click here. This link is ONLY for GREEN students. Students only need to register once before the first time they take a COVID test at a district site.

Family workshops will be presented by Logrando Bienestar beginning February 15th. Anyone interested can contact Logrando to sign up. There are 6 classes and although families are encouraged to attend all 6, they can also participate in the ones of interest to them. They will be provided in both English and Spanish. HVAC construction is moving along at E.O. Green. Currently, our Math classroom hallway is under construction and contractors have completed both Science hallways.

Over Winter Break, new concrete was poured in our new eating area by the P.E. locker rooms and science hallway. This will keep all students spread out while also making it easier for our custodians to clean the area.

Students will be released at 1:00 for teacher planning and collaboration time.
