ER is Strong!
Submitted by: Everett W., 4th Gr.
So some people might think that ER is just a weak school but no... we are strong. We cheer for our teammates at the Super Duper Bowl. We have fun playing with everyone everywhere, on the playground, and in our classroom. The teachers are amazing, nice, kind, funny, and playful. They always love to help in Writing, in Math, in Grammar, in Reading, and in Science. The principal, Ms. Follman, is super nice. She always wants to help everyone. The nurses the are super nice, too, and they always help everyone in the Nurse's Office. No matter what anybody tells you about ER, you say ER is strong.

When I Got Lost at Trenton Thunder
By Dylan S., 4th Grade
After all of that, we went to our seats with my cousins to watch the game. The Trenton Thunder won the game, 7-5. It wasn’t a good day for me so I went to bed as soon as we got home. The next day started of okay... until my little sister reminded me of what happened the day before, and I was mad at her. She got in big trouble by my parents and I also didn’t talk to her for the rest of the day. After dinner we had apple pie for dessert. The next day, I played with my friends all day. That is the story of how I got lost at Trenton Thunder! I hoped you enjoyed!

Fire Prevention Week
Mr. McClellan reviewed the importance of smoke detectors. We were given PARENT HOMEWORK (which we loved). Parents need to test their smoke detectors and change the batteries every six months when we change our clocks (at the beginning of November). We learned about "Stay Low and Go!" because the good air is down low and no smoke will get in our eyes if we're low to the ground. We talked about using our karate skills to push out a window screen if it's an emergency. We also learned about throwing our toys out the window so the rescue people can find us in our home.
We reviewed the importance of having a meeting place at our home so we can count heads and take attendance to be sure everyone is safe. We learned that we shouldn't look for pets in an emergency because they will follow us out or the firemen will search for them and save them. One of the firemen got dressed up in all of his fireman clothes so we could see all of his equipment and special gear.
Finally, we learned about NOT playing with matches because they're so dangerous! Thanks, Mr. McClellan (a member of our ER Community) and his firemen friends, for teaching us all about fire prevention. We look forward to your visit next year!
Mount Everest
Omg! I can’t wait to go on this ride. It’s one of the biggest and tallest rides I’ve ever seen in my life! I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to go on that ride. I was waiting in line like this ride depended on my life. I begged my mom to go on it. It looked so cool from my angle. There was actual snow up there! At the same time I kept repeatedly saying to my mom, “ Will we ever be able to go on this ride?” At that point I was really giving her a headache.
When we finally got up there it made me worried because I just thought to myself, “What if I’m not tall enough!” But I was. As the ride started moving, I started going up, up, up, up! When we got all the way up there, me and my mom were complaining to each other that it was really freezing up there. My mom started regretting everything and begged to get off the ride. Then a yeti’s shadow came out of nowhere and started roaring. My mom was screaming so loud she popped my ear drums!
Not a moment too soon, all sound was lost and everybody on the roller coaster froze in terror. Everybody that was on the roller coaster started whispering. I really wanted to know what the chaos was about. But what frightened me is that the person behind me whispered loud enough so I could hear clearly her or him saying, “I think the ride is broken.” These words were terrifying for me to listen to!!!! Would I get stuck up there!? It wasn’t long before I realized this was just a part of the ride to scare people. I was right and a minute later, we started going super slow to the edge before we went plummeting down to the bottom of the ginormous mountain.
Then, of course with no warning, we started going down the mountain so fast I was sure I was going to fly out of my seat. WOOHOOO!!! We were screaming at the top of our lungs. I thought that all of America could hear me and my mom scream!!! When we got off the ride me and my mom were laughing so hard. There will never be a better ride than that one!!!!!
Girls On The Run
We are the girls on the run. Hi, I am Allison C. and I am Charlotte J. We are two girls that participate in Girls on the Run. We do all sorts of fun things. We have warm ups and games and a workout where you get to run and talk with your friends. Girls on the Run includes: A shirt and water bottle and you run a 5K. You do it two days a week, Monday and Wednesday. It is for third grade to fifth grade. And we love our coaches! We really like Girls on the Run and we hope you join Girls on the Run next year. To all those kindergarten through second graders, we hope you will join one year when you are in third or fourth or fifth grade, though if you are in kindergarten through first grade then we will not be there when you go to Girls on the Run because we are in fourth grade now and next year we'll be in fifth.
Bye for now! Allie and Charlotte
Advice for the Girls on the Run 5K
Submitted by: Abbi F. and Paige T., 3rd Grade
Girls on the run is really fun if you enjoy running like we do. If you enjoy running, you might want to try to sign up next year. And we know that every girl might not be able to get in the program for Girls on the Run but you may try if you are interested.
If you are interested, it is for 3rd -5th Graders. In Girls on the Run, each and every day is a new journey that is always a positive lesson that goes with it. The fun of it is that each and every lesson is a new game that explains who you are and why you are you and how important you are and how unique you are compared to other people. Sometimes it is about standing up for yourself or someone else, or it could be about feelings or gossip.
STRETCH
It’s important to stretch or else you can pull a muscle. In the list below, the top three stretching exercises are about your hamstring.
Flamingo
Pull your leg back and hold it for 10 seconds... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. That would help you to NOT pull your hamstring. Then do the same thing for your other leg.
Straddle
Sit or stand (it does NOT matter). Once you've made your decision, reach to your right or your left and hold it for ten seconds... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Once you have done that side, do the same for the other side.
Pike
Sit or stand, then once you have made your own decision, touch your toes and hold it for 10 seconds... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
Toy Soldier
Stand and kick one leg up. With your opposite arm, try to touch your toes then do it on the other side. Alternate and do that 16 times.
Butt Kicks
Now if you've done Girls on the Run or Running Club you should know this one but for those of you that don’t know, you kick one leg up at a time so that it hits or almost hits your backside.
FORM
Make sure that when you run, your arms are going shoulder to pocket. When you run, make sure your head is up, because if you trip, you could fall on your face.
PACE
If you run a race or a 5K like us, you should run at a slower pace than you would usually run. If you're running a race, you're going to get tired and we know that you probably don’t want to stop, do you? Good luck!

Sixers Pre-Season Rankings
The Philadelphia 76ers had an okay off-season. The best players they acquired were Al Horford from the Celtics and Josh Richardson from the Heat, but we did lose key players Jimmy Butler and J.J. Redick, but Tobias Harris resigned with us. Ben Simmons isn't a very good 3-point shooter but he made his first carrier 3-pointer EVER! He is only 22 years old and has lots of room for improvement. He is a key piece in the line-up. So is center Joe Embiid. With that, their starting lineup is... Point Guard Ben Simmons, Shooting Guard Josh Richardson, Small Forward Tobias Harris, Power Forward Al Horford, and Center Joel Embiid. That puts them on top because they have a 28% chance of winning the championship; the highest in the League!
The Mixed-Up Stories of Percy Jackson
I Vaporize a Bull in Underwear
Hello, I'm Percy Jackson. You might know me as, ”Percy Jackson, Defeater of Kronos and Savior of the World! “ but I also have a normal life, too, and it’s monster free, I´ll show you it.
Well I didn't promise that it was monster free. I only SAID it was. Well, I´ll tell you what happened. It was morning in my dormitory of another boarding school. My pen was in my pocket, as always. Well, it wasn't really a ballpoint pen, it was a three foot, celestial bronze sword called Anakumos, (A.K.A., Riptide) and yes, it did always reappear in my pocket. Anywho, some kind of sound woke me up... a cross between a cow and a dinosaur (just saying, aliens were not there to steal cows). "BANG!” At that moment, I realized it could be one of two things:
A- Zeus is arguing about watching his TV show with Poseidon (my dad).
B- The Minotaur is setting out on its bloody revenge for me.
If you said B, you were correct! A bull (in his underwear) slamming against the wall of my school with its horns took a look at me and charged in. I know what you're thinking but, well because of the Mist (the force that stops mortals from seeing the monsters and demigods) humans probably mistook the Minotaur for a stray donkey, but this was no donkey. I wish I had Annabeth or Grover or Tyson with me. Wait, back to the present. Old Beef Head was coming for me. He couldn't see well, but demigods had a smell that monsters could detect, like the smell says, "Here I am!” Anyways, I uncapped Riptide and went down so slow, a turtle could beat me there. Halfway down, I heard someone shout, "I can never leave you alone, Seaweed Brain!” At that moment, I knew only one person called me that. At the end of the staircase was a girl with golden hair, an orange t-shirt that said CAMP HALF-BLOOD, and jeans with a bronze knife in her hand, but with stormy gray eyes. "ANNABETH!” Sure enough, the daughter of Athena was there. "You always get into trouble,” she said, shaking her head. "I need help with-." "I know. I saw Mr. Meatloaf running here, so I decided to have a nice, good, time vaporizing beef.” She said, "Let's go, we have a monster to stop," and we hurried off.
You know what a piece of good advice is? NEVER MAKE THE MINOTAUR ANGRY!! A few summers ago, I vaporized it and all that remained was its horn that I kicked off, and in addition, I destroyed it AGAIN in the Battle of Manhattan. Now, I think it didn't like it that much, so when we ran downstairs, the Minotaur decided to 360 me to the wall. Annabeth also got the same present. I managed to get Riptide and stand up. "Hey, Meatloaf, give me your best shot!” I said. Annabeth also managed to get on her feet too, and with that, all of us attacked. The Minotaur took its anger out on Annabeth instead of me. (If this was soccer, Beef, number 26, would get a red card and our team would get a penalty kick). At that moment, she passed out. "Annabeth!!!” I screamed. "AGGGHHH!!” it yelled in reply. ”HEY, EVER MEET MY POWERS? I THINK YOU´LL LIKE THEM!!” I screamed, but I knew that it knew what I was talking about. At that moment I smacked the brainless bull man with disgusting, germ ridden, water, and when it was distracted by the smell, I grabbed Riptide and went through the Minotaur like it was made of butter. All that remained was a hoove. Just like that, it was sent back down to the pit of Tartarus. "I am NOT picking that up!” But it wasn't me who said it; it was Annabeth. "Did you really pass out, or were you just getting lazy?” I asked. "I really passed out,” she said, but I knew it was both. "So, you want to grab a burger?” she asked. 'Only if you pay!” I said. She sighed, ”OK.” and we set off.
The Creepy Country
At midnight, Jackson, Gabriel and Luke went to an abandoned school. They went to the doors, walked inside and went to the cafeteria. We walked around and Luke found a gummy bear. They dared Luke to eat it. He put it in his mouth and ate it. Next, they found a book and read it. When they were walking home, they turned into a ghost, vampire and a zombie. The next day, they saw a boy stuck in a hole, pulled him out, and took him home. They all turned back into humans and lived happily ever after.
