New Classes at Easton this Year
Over the next several newsletters, I will be highligting some of our new class offerings at the secondary level. This week I will mention our new Game Design Class and Jag Leadership.
Game Design is being taught virtually for most students in grades 9-12 with an instructor from DigiPen Institute and Mrs. Allenbaugh. The students are connecting via Zoom for the class instructions and for assistance. From my observations, the class is of very high interest to the students and is providing a great foundation into a possible career in tech and or the gaming industry. DigiPen Institute is the world leader in game design instruction and I am very pround that wer are able to offer this to our students this year and hopefully expand for next year. I'm very interested to see what the students develop over the course of the year,
Jag Leadership is taught by Mrs. Coburn for grades 7-12. The leadership class provides time in the school day for our ASB officers as well as other interested students to plan, prepare and execute student activities here at Easton. Currently the class is responsible for our daily announcements, planning Spirt Week, assembly planning, and assisting to plan our upcoming Open House. The students are divided into smaller groups with each have a project or activity to plan. The students are also planning to open a student store selling snacks and some beverages. This class provides the opportunity for our ASB and other students to provide their voice and perspective to the school.
I have had installed "leadership" classes in every secondary school, in both Washington and Saudi Arabia, I have worked at: Eagle Leadership, Scorpion Leadership, Wolves Leadership and now Jag Leadership.
