E-Newsletter for BISD Families ~ October 11, 2023
Thank You BISD Principals!
You are Invited to Share Your Voice in BISD Planning!
Your voice is needed as a representative of your student’s campus on the 2023-2024 District Improvement Committee. You will work alongside teachers and leaders as you share your perspective in planning for the future. Serving on the committee is quick, and you will not be asked to plan events or take on leadership roles. Meetings are held at the BISD Service Center (906 Farm St in Bastrop) from 4:30-6:00 pm on the dates listed below.
Upcoming opportunities:
- December 4, 2023: Planning for the 2024-2025 Academic Calendar
- February 26, 2024: Designing Meaningful Parent, Family, and Community Engagement
Please contact Kendra Monk if you are ready to lend your voice to this important district committee by phone at 512-772-7110 or by email at kmonk@bisdtx.org.

Supporting Students with Autism at Home
During the 2022-2023 school year, Bastrop ISD partnered with STAR Autism Support to provide six virtual training sessions on how families can support students with Autism at home and in the community. Those trainings were recorded and are still available during this school year for families to access.

Student SEL Surveys are launching SOON!
Building social emotional skills is important for students and adults as we learn to develop confidence, build relationships, and be successful. To that end, students and teachers are participating in exercises to better understand key concepts of social emotional learning and reflect on how they perceive these concepts in themselves.
Between October 16-November 3, students in grades 3-12 will complete an online survey at school that will ask them to reflect on skills such as grit, growth mindset, self-efficacy, self-management, sense of belonging, school safety, and teacher-student relationship. We will use their confidential responses as valuable insight into their experience at school and how we can improve and adapt to better meet their needs.
We are partnering with Panorama Education to support us in administering these surveys.
