A Message to our Bears...
Primary Bears,
Happy 2nd week of school! Our morning carline is running smoothly and we are finishing the line around 7:22 each morning. The tardy bell is 7:25. IF your child happens to arrive after 7:25, please park and walk him/her in. You will need to sign your child in via the ipads in the foyer.
If you can't find your "magic code" for Rooms communication, please email your child's teacher. The homeroom teacher can generate the code for you. Also, on the district website, there is a Rooms help link. LVISD.org
Thank you for your support! If you have questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to email and we will get back with you.
Go Bears Go!
Sincerely,
Shelley Keck
Principal

LV Primary Homework Policy
La Vernia Primary believes that children should read or be read to daily. In lieu of daily homework, we ask that families read together every day. Studies show this stimulates and strengthens your child’s language and literacy development. “Reading a minimum of 20 minutes a day allows children’s vocabulary to grow and expand, exposing them to 1.8 million vocabulary words a year.” - Barnes, Children’s Reading Foundation.
In addition to daily reading, grade levels may send weekly/monthly newsletters and/or calendars with topics and real life activities to spur at home learning and conversation. These aren’t meant to take a huge portion of your evening, rather for being the bridge between school and home.
Additionally, IF a student is below grade level or needs extra practice, a teacher may suggest specific skill based resources or practice to accelerate your child’s learning.
For students in PRE K through 2nd grade, homework shouldn’t be a stress or worry for our families. Read together, have fun together, and talk about learning!
