Dear Graham Families:

We had a good turnout on Wednesday for the Student Item pickup. There are still quite a few bags left with student items. These items will be available for pick up next week, Monday, June 8 - Thursday June 11 from 10-2 pm. Please have your students name and teacher name written down on a piece of paper. Please come through the bus loop, someone will be out to pick up the paper.

If the items are not picked up at this time you can pick them up in September when we return to school.

*Important* Please return your devices that the District loaned out. You can return them June 15, 16 &17th at the Avondale Administration Building from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. You may come inside the building. PLEASE DO NOT take the devices to Graham.

Report cards will be mailed home the week of June 15th.

To all of the 5th grade classes, Good Luck at the Middle school!!!

Everyone have a safe and fun summer!!!

During the Stay Home, Stay Safe Order, Mrs. Lantz set up a fundraiser through Donors Choose in order to get books into the hands of her students. Several donors made generous donations to help reach her goal of raising just over $400. With these donations, Mrs. Lantz was able to make sure each of her students would have brand new books of their own to read during their time apart.

Our summer reading program has moved online this year! The program is for all ages and families can sign up using Beanstack, a free app. As always, our summer programs will offer fun prizes to encourage participants to keep reading and doing literacy activities this summer. The Library will also be beginning curbside service on June 15th. Families will be able to request books using our catalog or by calling the Library. Parents who have not yet gotten a library card are able to apply for one on our website.

Avondale School District has announced the 2020-2021 school year calendar. These dates are CONFIRMED (other dates including half-days, PD days, etc. will be provided at a later date).

• First Day of School for STUDENTS: September 1, 2020 ( 1/2 day) followed by full days on September 2 and 3, 2020 and NO SCHOOL on September 4, 2020 AND September 7, 2020 (Labor Day Observance).

• Holiday Break: December 21, 2020 THROUGH January 1, 2021. (Last day of school before break is December 18, 2020 and the first day of school after break is January 4, 2021).

• Mid-Winter Break: To Be Determined

• Spring Break: March 29, 2021 THROUGH April 2, 2021. (Last day of school before break is March 26, 2021 and the first day of school after break is April 5, 2021).

• LAST Day of School: June 11, 2021

We will provide you with the complete 2020-21 calendar as soon as it is available.

During this crisis, Honor Community Health is committed to providing necessary supports and services to students and families throughout Oakland County. We know the need for mental health services has dramatically increased since the beginning of the pandemic, and many have questions regarding symptoms, testing locations, community resources, etc. Therefore, Honor Community Health has developed a Helpline whereby students and families can access mental health counseling, primary medical care/nurse triage, and connection to community resources. The helpline is available Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. The number is 248-897-0722.

Happy summer break! Parents, let's not let our students take a summer slide with their reading skills. Please look for the Graham Summer Reading Calendar in your child's report card envelope. Once you receive it in the mail, help your child get started on their summer reading, by encouraging them to pick out books they love, then remind your child to record the minutes read. When we can get in the car to take an adventure, hit the books...Reading is a Passport to Countless Adventures!
