Principal's Message
Dear Springer Families,
Dear Springer Families,
As we look to next school year, we would like to give you an opportunity to share with us your child’s learning style to help inform us with class placement. Class placement balances academic, behavioral, and gender characteristics with the students entering a specific grade level. Though we take into consideration personalities between students, we cannot promise certain students will or will not be placed with other students. Specific teacher requests are not honored, so please do not include this in your information. You will receive a Google Form through the email today to share your thoughts.
If you desire to complete this form, please do so by May 8th.
Warmly,
Robin
State Testing
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress or CAASPP will be given during the window of April 29th through May 17th. This computer based test will assess students in 3rd- 6th grade in English Language Arts, Math and, for 5th graders only, the additional topic of science. The students will have several parts of the online test to take over a window of three weeks and the teachers have been very thoughtful in their planning when each part of the test is given. There are multiple-choice questions, matching, fill-in tables, drag and drop, graphing, short text and essays, as well as performance tasks. The number of subsections and parts of each subject area is driven by the state of California and not the individual teacher, school, or district. Please look for specific information from your child’s teacher when your child will be testing during this window.
We would appreciate it if you would schedule any appointments outside of your child’s test days to avoid your child needing to make-up the test on another day. A good night’s rest and a wholesome breakfast all contribute to your child doing their best on the assessment.

This is a great opportunity to see which instrument best suits your child. Parents are welcome to ask questions and to meet the LASD Music teachers.
