Holy Cross Catholic School
From the Desk of Mrs. Wagner
August 26, 2022
Please don't forget Back to School Night is a requirement for parents to attend. Our Back to School Night for grades 1-8 is on Tuesday, August 30 at 6:30 pm in the gym. We will begin with a presentation from PTO, Scrip, Celebration, Catechesis, and myself before we break out into three different sessions.
After our school safety review this summer, we will be keeping all doors locked during the school day. All visitors are required to go through the front office during school hours. We appreciate your help with this as it is our number one priority to keep our students and staff safe.
A Beginning of the Year Prayer for Holy Cross
Thank you, Lord, for new beginnings and this new year. We trust that your peace will watch over us as us step into a new beginning. This year, we will rely on the riches of your love and grace to provide for our physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
In Jesus' name, Amen
When do we wear Liturgy Uniforms?
TK Students wear liturgy uniforms the second Friday of each month.
Dear Holy Cross Families,
Welcome back! We are very excited about the new school year and want you to know we believe in working together with you and the Holy Cross Staff to make sure that your child is safe, happy, challenged, and continues to be the best version of themselves.
Our job as school counselors is varied as the students we serve. The program consists of a wide range of services and activities, including individual and group support, parent and teacher consultation, group guidance lessons aligned with the Archdiocesan standards, and referral assistance to programs and services in the community. We would like to share with you some of our goals for the 2022 - 2023 school year.
To help make the school a successful and safe experience
To help students understand themselves and others
To encourage a good healthy self-esteem
To develop and enhance communication skills.
To help develop appropriate behavior patterns
Since this position is part-time we wanted to explain which days we will be working with your child or in their classroom teaching guidance lessons. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday are Mrs. Petri's days and Mrs. Reeb works on Tuesday. We will be in your child’s classroom approximately two times a month. We typically will send home an email explaining my lesson in hopes this will encourage follow-up conversations on the skills that we reviewed. Mrs. Reeb's primary focus is small group opportunities. Remember we are TEAM HOLY CROSS and as a family, we are working together to help your child be a child of God and a positive influence on our world.
We encourage you to call (913-381-7408) if you have any questions or concerns about the counseling program or goals, or just want to introduce yourself.
Blessings to you and your family,
Jackie Reeb & Marian Petri

Covid 19 Updated Procedures
As we begin another school year with an ongoing pandemic, we wanted to touch base with changes regarding general illness exclusion in school and Covid-19 procedures.
General information on illness procedures
As always, please keep your children home for the following symptoms:
Fever above 99.6
Diarrhea
Vomiting
If you have questions about symptoms please call prior to sending your child to school.
Please contact the nurses Polly Mandl and Nina Haverkamp (emails below) or email the office. (mbeisser@holycrosscatholicschool.com) and (sbridges@holycrosscatholicschool.com)
Covid-19
If your child tests positive for Covid-19, keep them home for 5 days, while they are most infectious. They may return to school when they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication), and their symptoms are improving. Upon return, it is recommended they wear a mask through day 10.
Quarantine is no longer required for contact with an infected individual and the test to stay program has been discontinued. It is recommended however, if you had close contact with a Covid-19 positive individual, that you wear a mask for 10 days and test after 5 full days (on day 6 or after). It is important to closely monitor the exposed individual for symptoms, and exclude them from school if they develop any of the symptoms below.
Symptoms include:
Fever
Cough
Sore Throat
Body Aches
Headache
Stuffy or runny nose
Vomiting and or nausea
Diarrhea
Fatigue
Loss of taste and smell
Please see the link below if you want more information.
CDC General Covid-19 guidance Aug 2022 update
We are hoping that, with the above measures, we can continue on our way to a more “normal” and healthy school year. Please feel free to call or email anytime with any questions or concerns. We appreciate all you do. Thank you so much!
