Morris Elementary School
Week of February 5th
Hello Parents and Guardians,
I hope your children are still buzzing with excitement of Global Play Day. The students enjoyed building with Lego's, designing a chain reaction with materials from Playful Engineers, competing in Outdoor games, and creating a piece of art to be on display later in the year. It was heartwarming to see the children embrace the joy of play. Children learn many important life skills through play. It improves the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well being of children.
The kindergarten staff is teaching the students responsibility. The picture on the right is a cute display of our kindergarten students boots outside their classroom. They have learned the importance of keeping their classroom safe during the winter months.
🚫 Reminder: Valentine's Day- No Candy, Please
As Valentine's Day approaches, let's keep the focus on heartful gestures. We kindly request that you do not send in Valentine's with any type of food. We will not distribute them. Paper Valentine's are best if you want to send a small tricket. Pencils and stickers are always appreciated.
National School Counselors Week
This week is National School Counselors Week. Please take a moment to have your child write a thank you note to Ms. Beth or Ms. Cherilyn. School Counselors help all students maximize their success in school. They promote equity for all students, help create a positive culture, collaborate with families, and meet with students to foster appropriate social and emotional development. I thank them for their tireless work each week.
Morning Bus Times
Please remember the bus company allows a ten minute window from the scheduled time. The red, yellow and blue bus have been arriving late to Morris in the morning. The bus company is adjusting their time by 5 minutes in the morning for these buses. Thank you for your cooperation.
Looking ahead, on Wednesday, February 7th Morris Elementary School will participate in the Safe Routes to School Winter Walk. Please join us at 8:00 a.m at Lilac Park. We will leave shortly after 8 and walk to Morris Elementary School. This is a great opportunity for you and your child to connect with other Morris Families.
CAR SEAT SAFETY
Your child's safety is our top priority, especially when traveling by car. Please take a moment to review the latest car seat regulations pictured below. Thank you!
Safe Routes to School Contest
Your student(s) are invited to design a yard sign promoting safe roads to school for our Morris student walkers and bus riders.
The contest is now open and the deadline for entries to be turned into the Morris main office is February 12th.
This year's theme is "BUS STOP SAFETY".
Please remember that all signs need to be hand drawn or digitally created in landscape format. The four winning designs from all participating schools in MA will be made into yard signs and distributed to all the schools entered in the contest. This contest is for students in Grades 2-8. Your design can be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 paper/or digitally in a landscape format.
All submissions must be received to the main office by the end of the school day on February 12th. At that time I will collect them and prepare to send them to them to the Safe Routes to Schools Office in Boston. If you could please download and fill out the form below as a parent/guardian's signature is required for your student to participate.
