Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, January 21, 2021
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Here at MV we appreciate getting feedback. Most recently we surveyed our 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students to get a pulse on how they are feeling about school at this time. Here are some of the highlights that our students shared in the survey. Overall, it is pretty obvious that our students are happy to be back at school.
Sincerely,
Robin Schrot, Principal
Allyce Harris, Associate Principal
P.S. Have a great day off tomorrow and a productive distance learning day on Monday.

Kindergarten Registration
Four-year-old kindergarten (4K) and five-year-old kindergarten (5K) online registration begins February 1st! Please let your neighbors with young children know and save the date. Additional registration information can be found on the Muskego-Norway Schools website. Registration will remain open, however we ask that families register by the end of March to help with planning and student placement. Placement is not a first come first served system.
In addition, please save the date and watch for additional information regarding our 4K Parent Information Night. This event will be hosted virtually on March 11, 2021 from 5:30-6:30 pm. As the spring months approach, we will also be sharing information regarding our Kindergarten Splash events to welcome incoming 5K students for the 2021-2022 school year.

2021 Compass Nominations are Now Being Accepted
2021 Compass Nominations are now being accepted. We have been recognizing staff with the Compass since 2008. The purpose is to reinforce and recognize staff who, through their commitments and contributions, ensure that every student is learning, growing and succeeding. Specifically, the Compass honors staff members who meet designated criteria in the following areas:
- Positive impact on students
- Positive impact on staff, parents, and/or the community
- Commitment to continuous improvement, leadership and/or service
- Champion for innovation, creativity, and/or best practice.
Please consider nominating a staff member for the 2021 Compass. The fillable application form is available on the website. The process is easy - complete the form electronically and send your completed form to Jeff Petersen (jeff.petersen@muskegonorway.org) by March 1. Please note that each nomination must have a minimum of three nominations and a maximum of four. One nomination form may be submitted with all three/four nominators signatures or each nominator may complete a separate nomination form. All nominations are due by March 1.
Reset Mind & Body
Our district has partnered with Reset Mind and Body to provide your child with in-classroom instruction to develop strategies for increasing self awareness, self regulation and resiliency. The Reset instructors have taught your child scientifically researched mindfulness tools designed to support, regulate, and reset the nervous system. When these tools are practiced routinely, individuals develop the ability to feel more resilient and become better able to focus, learn, connect, and calmly respond to whatever arises. These handouts contain the information tools and strategies taught. We encourage you to talk with your child about these lessons and even practice these strategies at home as a family.
