Our Mission:
Principal's Message
This week marks our graduation and final days with our seniors. To the Class of 2022, thank you for your leadership this year as we all learned together what school would like this year. You were a big part of the work to re-connect to our learning and to one another. I am excited to see you graduate, but sad to see you go as it all went too fast.
We will celebrate our seniors this week as we finish classes early to have a "carnival" that includes various activities including a senior vs. staff softball game. That means we will have a different schedule for that day and on Friday to balance time in each class. There will be information for both this week's bell schedule and the bell schedule for next Monday and Tuesday in the newsletter.
Please encourage your students to continue to push hard through this week and next using the time at school and home to improve their grades before the last day of school, which is June 14th.
If you have further questions about the end of school please email me at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu or call the office at 360-3968-8111.
Go Trojans!
- Derek Forbes

GRADUATION PRACTICE
Graduation Practice is June 9th from 9:00am-11:00am. Students are required to attend! If you do not attend, you will not be walking at graduation! Seniors - please bring your cap and gown(no stole) to practice, as we will be having the graduation parades at IRE and MMS after practice.
SENIOR CLEARANCE
Seniors will need to turn in all textbooks, library books and electronics and pay all fines before they can receive their diploma. Chromebooks will be collected, June 8th. Seniors can pick up a pink clearance sheet in the office, if they don't already have one. Clearance sheets need to be turned in to the office by 12:45pm on June 8th.
SENIOR FINAL TRANSCRIPTS
If you need your end of senior year, final transcript, sent to the college you will be attending in the fall, please submit your request via parchment asap. That way you can make sure your college has the information before school begins in the fall.
Meridian High School has partnered with parchment.com to fulfill transcript requests for current students and MHS alumni. Transcripts are securely sent electronically to colleges and universities across the nation, resulting in a reduction of lost documents at the financial aid offices. The service is free of charge to current students. Alumni pay a small fee. Please make sure that your intended college accepts electronic transcripts.
Please find the “Order transcripts through Parchment” link under Families & Students/Resources on the MHS website. Current students may call Mrs. Brinkman or Mrs. Waterman to receive their Parchment access code at the MHS office 360-398-8111.
School Meals for the 2022-23 School Year
The current USDA waiver that has allowed schools to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students is set to expire at the end of this school year. This means that for the 2022-23 school year we will be transitioning back to regular prices for school meals, with free/reduced price meals for qualified families. We realize that will be a shift for all of our families and want to be sure you are aware now. Students with an approved free/reduced meal application on file will continue to be covered under that application through Oct. 13, 2022. Meals are still free for all students through the last day of this school year.
Free/reduced meal applications for the 2022-23 school year will be available in mid-August. We will notify families if any changes occur to the USDA waiver for the 2022-23 school year.
Yearbook Sales
Yearbook Sales are on sale through the last day of school, June 14th. The cost is $70.00. There are only 20 left, so make sure you get yours before they are gone!

Teacher Feature
Tami Scott - CTE
Mrs. Scott has been working at Meridian since 2003, and she says her favorite thing about teaching at Meridian is doing all the foods classes. She was originally hired as an English teacher but ended up teaching all the foods classes, and throughout her years of teaching she says the students have always been amazing. Mrs. Scott had a fantastic time in high school, it was a really positive experience for her. She wants to pass along the positive experience she had, and wants to make high school worthwhile and fun for her students. She wants her students to have hope and have a vision for their future, so to help out she wants to give them knowledge and skill so they have confidence in their plans for the rest of their life. Mrs. Scott's favorite free time activities are hiking, camping, and gardening. She loves to do little projects around her house. Outside of her usual classes she teaches at Meridian she also does Trojan Cafe. Trojan Cafe has catered for different events for the school. But outside of school she's been a part of a church's youth group, other community organizations, and summer camping programs. Mrs. Scott wants to tell everyone that they should take advantage of their opportunities, and be active in their future choices. Mrs. Scott's highlight from working at Meridian is the Spain and Italy trip she took with her students. It was such a wonderful opportunity for some students who hadn't traveled before. She got to see them broaden their horizons, and the great food they got to eat was a great plus. Students say their favorite thing about Mrs. Scott is that she is "always very energetic," "cares about her students future," and that "her classes are really fun!"
Teacher Feature is provided by Bhavnoor Dhatt. Bhavnoor is a leadership student that will be providing the Teacher Feature as part of her personal project for Leadership class.
D-DAY, JUNE 6TH
D-Day, observed annually on June 6, brings overwhelming memories of the brave men and women who fought a strategically planned and well-executed battle that ultimately led to the end of the Second World War. More than 75 years after the end of World War II, these memories remain fresh to the over 300,000 living U.S. veterans of the war. The rest of us look to their legacy and the rich history of events told through museums and memorials. There is not a more important time than today for us to remember and honor them as we reflect on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
