Dear Field Parents and Guardians,

Happy Summer! As we wrap up the 2022-2023 school year, we thank you for your partnership and support this year. We are so proud of our Field students in all that they have learned and accomplished. To our 5th graders, we know you'll continue to make us proud as you transition to Emerson Middle School. And we look forward to welcoming over 100 new kindergarteners this fall. In the meantime, we hope the summer months are filled with fewer alarm clocks and more fun in the sunshine!

Staff Retirement

We'd like to congratulate Mrs. Carolyn Borta on her retirement. We will miss having her at Field next year - but we wish Mrs. Borta very well in her retirement.

Staff Changes

We'd also like to share a few staff changes. We want to wish Ms. Cindy Sanchez and Ms. Sophie Schwartz well in their future endeavors - both have wrapped up their time here in D64 and are headed to new positions.

We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Jo Barzowski back to the 5th grade team. She'll be our fifth 5th grade teacher next year after having stepped away from Field 5th grade to serve the district for the past several years as a literacy coach. We are also very pleased to welcome Mrs. Kitty McGrath to the kindergarten team. She's also been serving as a district literacy coach, and we are thrilled to have her at Field as a kindergarten teacher. Mrs. McGrath was previously at Roosevelt as an interventionist and special education teacher. At this time, we are also planning to have Ms. Kelsey MacBain teach 3rd grade next year; she was a 2nd grade teacher here this year. Ms. Corey Davis will also be with us full time next year in her role as math interventionist.

We'd also like to introduce you to two new Field staff members! Welcome to Ms. Sarah Clinkunbroomer and Ms. Bridget Van Etten. Ms. Clinkunbroomer joins the 4th grade team as a classroom teacher, and Ms. Van Etten joins our kindergarten team as our fifth kindergarten teacher. We feel very fortunate to have hired two dynamic, personable, and student-centered educators!

Name Changes

Earlier this year, Ms. Kathleen Graham got married. She is now Mrs. Kathleen Walsh! In August, Ms. Rachel Solmor is getting married, and her new name will be Mrs. Rachel Amundson next year.

As a reminder, our Field office is closed over the summer, closing as of June 16th. However, I work year-round and am typically at Field during the days. If you need to be in touch, please feel free to reach out directly to me. Otherwise, I will share a back-to-school update in August.

School's out & it’s time to sort school supplies! The Field Green Team would like to encourage all families to help students sort through their school supplies by

1. Reusing as many of their school supplies as possible for the next school year. See next year's lists here: Field & Emerson.

2. Donating any gently used school supplies like notebooks, folders, writing & drawing utensils, rulers, pencil cases, etc. We have a drop box at 12 N. Merrill St 6/9-6/12 and will take the items to Scarce an organization who works to reduce waste and give back to students everywhere.

3. Recycling all paper products (notebooks/folders). Just make sure to remove any metal parts.

If you can believe it, the link for First Day of School Supplies (for next school year) is live here. Take the hassle out of back-to-school shopping. Free home delivery at least two weeks before the 1st day of school.

This year, when any of our District 64 schools has a positive COVID-19 case, we'll communicate that information via our school-specific dashboard on our website. A link to our Field COVID dashboard can be found here. This dashboard will replace any previously emailed letters with notifications. On the dashboard, you will be able to see the number of active cases of students or staff in isolation, and the homerooms associated with those students.

We do continue to update this regularly. Our numbers of reported cases have been very low or at zero for the recent weeks.
