Bowers Winter Park volunteer and job posting available to IA students ☃️🎿

Friends of Bowers Farm, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Bowers Farm, is getting ready to host its annual Winter Park fundraiser and is looking for students that may either want to volunteer or work at the park (16+). Winter Park 2023 runs from Jan 5th-Feb 26th, Wed-Sun.


Volunteers needed! Please sign up here to help with an occasional shift, or more. Free hot cocoa because we love our volunteers. :) Our volunteers keep the event running smooth and the guests having fun!

Link to job posting - Apply for Winter Park under the "Guest Services Associate" for Bowers Farm and Johnson Nature Center. We are in need of staff for skate rental, tubing attendants, Ice rink guards (must be able to skate!) and more. Winter Park is an outdoor event and hours are Wed & Thurs 4-9pm, Fri 4-10pm, Sat. 12-10pm, and Sun 12-9pm. Part time shifts are available and start at $14/hour.

Science Olympiad

The IA Central Science Olympiad Team travelled to Sylvania, OH on Saturday to compete at the Northview Invitational. Sylvania is a Toledo suburb. Laura Jenkins and Brad Davies took two teams (30 students). It was a smooth day and great to have two full teams again after Pandemic hiccups. :)


There were 51 teams. Varsity placed 17th and JV placed 24th. Amongst our local competitors we were in the middle of the pack. A good start to the season and a great way to look at what areas need to be addressed!
