Dear Bobcat Families,

It is that time of year again. As we approach the close of another school year, we are excited for our annual Open House Event. And like last year, before our Open House event, we will also be hosting a Family Fun Night starting at 4:30! This includes 3 food trucks and 1 dessert food truck , bouncy houses - for both younger and older elementary students including an obstacle course , giant slide and a Jacob’s ladder game.

Open House will take place on Thursday, May 25th, from 6-7 PM. Our classrooms will be open for you to visit to see all of the wonderful work your children have done this year! Your first stop should be your child’s classroom and then after that, feel free to visit others. Looking forward to seeing you then!

As we wind down the school year, please take note of the important dates of events below. We still need volunteers for Science Olympiad and Field day! Please see the calendar above for how to sign up!

Preparing for the Fall

This is a super busy time for us as we are simultaneously planning the end of this school year while gearing up for the next one. Part of our planning for next year includes building next year’s classes. Teachers spend an extraordinary amount of time in this process as they weigh many factors in building balanced classes across the grade levels. If you have information about your child that you would like considered in the process of class placement, please email it to me- not the teachers. (krafferty@lasdschools.org). I ask that you do not request a specific teacher. Instead, send me information about the type of learning environment you think your child would most thrive in.

Lastly, I would like to direct your attention to the district calendar for the 2023-24 school year. You will see breaks during the academic year, including Thanksgiving, Winter Recess, February Recess and Spring Break. Please be aware of these dates as you plan your family trips and vacations so that your child is not out of school while school is in session. Pay particular attention to the Winter recess dates; the last day of instruction is Friday, December 22.

Come march with Santa Rita on Saturday, May 20th at the 76th Annual Kiwanis Pet Parade! We will meet at our assembly area in downtown Los Altos at 9:30am, with a parade start time of 10am. Please meet at assembly area G3 as marked on the map below. (We will be there early with our banner and wearing our Santa Rita red, so we will be easy to find) Pets are not actually required to join - just come enjoy being part of our community and a nice walk! We are seeking a volunteer to join Santa Rita’s PTA team as a Co-Treasurer. No prior experience is necessary, so if you're looking for a rewarding way to contribute to our school community, this could be the perfect role for you! As Co-Treasurer, you will work alongside our existing treasurer to help manage the PTA's finances and requires just a couple hours a week. This role is vital for the PTA to continue to function! If you're interested or would like more information contact Olga at olga@santaritapta.org

Our annual musical "Shrek Jr" will be on Friday, June 2nd @7pm and Saturday, June 3rd @2pm!
All shows will be at Almond Elementary School (550 Almond Ave, Los Altos, CA 94022)

Give your child a head start this summer with our free online coding classes for 3rd - 12th-grade students. Our trained CENG high school volunteers offer a variety of courses including, Minecraft, Roblox, Java AP CS, Web Design, Machine Learning in Python, Scratch, JavaScript, and Python.

Our instructors will guide your child through each course, teaching them essential coding skills and problem-solving techniques and encouraging creativity. Our classes are designed to be fun and interactive, providing an engaging experience for your child while they learn valuable skills that will benefit them in the future.

This is the last week of our Challenge Match! We still need to raise $180K to fully fund teachers for key programs this school year. Donate to LAEF today, and your gift will be DOUBLED. Our new Universal Meals program will be available for a Grab and Go breakfast between 8:10-8:25, from our new Servery Window (By the lunch tables near the Multi) and eat at the tables. If they do not finish, they can save it until recess time.
