School News and Updates - September 17th, 2020
Principal Message
Dear Sequoia Families,
I wanted to let you know about a change to our pick up/drop off schedule that will be happening for the remainder of the trimester. Instead of switching to pick up/drop off every two weeks, we are going to continue with our weekly schedule. We are hoping this will help to keep completed assignments organized for students and families and allow for more timely feedback from teachers on your child's work and progress. Over the last several weeks we've found the busiest times for parents coming through to drop off work and pick up new folders is early morning and late afternoon. Starting next week (Sept. 24th) we will have wagons out from 7:45-5:00, however it will only be staffed with a person to help from 7:45-10:00 and 2-5:00. From 10-2:00, you will need to park and get your child's folder from the labeled teacher wagons on the front sidewalk of campus. You will put the finished work folder in a bin located near the teacher wagon and take the new folder from inside the wagon. All folders are labeled in alphabetical order by first name. If you'd prefer to drive through, we would love to help you from 7:45-10:00 and 2-5:00pm. Thank you for your commitment to getting your child's learning materials each week!
Tonight at 7:00pm, we are offering a parent information night on executive functioning during distance learning. Executive functioning is a broad term that encompasses many skills needed to accomplish things. Specifically though, we will be discussing tips, tricks and tools you can use to help your child build organizational skills that will serve them now and in the future. We hope you can join us tonight at 7:00pm. This event will be recorded and sent out in my next newsletter if you cannot attend tonight. Please use the zoom link here: https://rvusd.zoom.us/j/93226035651
Each Wednesday, students will get a short assembly or message from me about our focus for the month, things happening in our school, and our new favorite segment, Jokes of the Week. While all teachers are showing these assemblies in their classrooms on Wednesdays, there has been a request to have them posted here so that you can show your child in case they didn't get to see it. I'll begin posting them in my newsletter each week.
There is a lot in today's newsletter so scroll down and check it all out! As always, please reach out if you have any questions or need support.
