LSP Families,

February is an exciting month at Little Spartans Preschool. On February 23rd we will be hosting a School Readiness Carnival from 4:00-7:00p.m. All LSP families are welcome. We do ask families to RSVP on the flyer that will go home on Monday, February 6, 2023. If you do not receive the flyer, please let your child's teacher know. The front doors will open at 4:00p.m. for the carnival. Everything is FREE! There will be prizes/games, bounce houses, book walk, hot dog dinner, selfie booth, face painting, and a variety of community resources.

Attendance

Attending school, even at the preschool/kindergarten level, is important in the early development of young children. Attendance challenges will be starting in the month of February. The top two classrooms/sessions with the highest attendance rate for the month of February will earn a certificate for each student to receive a free ice cream from Jack's Donuts! Thank you Jack's Donuts for your donation!

Recruitment

Do you know families who have or will have children between 3 & 5 years of age for the 2023-2024 school year? Be sure to send them our number 765-827-0191 Ext. 1. We can discuss program options and/or schedule a visit. LSP is an amazing facility for young learners!

Recess/Outdoor Learning

Please be sure to send your child to school with a heavy coat, gloves, and a hat. Children will go outside to play unless the feels like temperature is below twenty-eight degrees. If your child is in need of a coat/gloves/hat, please let us know.

Donations

LSP is the home of the Spartan Closet. We accept donations of gently used clothing (all sizes). We are currently in need of gently used children's clothing. If you or someone you know has some they would like to donate, they can drop off at the front office. We appreciate any support we can get to keep the Spartan Closet stocked for families.

Sick Student Procedures

Procedures for sick students can be found later in the newsletter. A rule of thumb to follow is 'students must be free of fever/diarrhea/vomiting for 24 hours (without medication) before returning to school.'

Bookmobile

This year we have partnered with the Fayette County Public Library. The bookmobile will be back at LSP on February 9th and 23rd from 10:00a.m.-2:30p.m. This is a great way for families to utilize community resources!

2 Hour Delays and Closings

If the Fayette County School Corporation (FCSC) delays, there will be NO AM preschool sessions. Full day Head Start students will be picked up on the bus two hours later than their normal morning pick-up time. Full day Head Start students can be dropped off at 9:50a.m. if they do not ride the bus. Our kindergarten transition classroom can also be dropped off at 9:50a.m. like normal and class will begin at 10:00a.m. If FCSC were to close, then there will be NO PRESCHOOL OR KINDERGARTEN sessions for the day.

Safety, Safety, Safety

Don't be alarmed if you notice police presence at LSP! The Connersville Police Department and the Fayette County Sherriff's Department regularly visit to make sure our students and staff are safe. If there ever is an emergency, families will be notified via ClassDojo, and Social Media (Facebook/Twitter). If your phone number changes for any reason, please notify the office so we can update our system!

Theme 2022-2023: Wild About Preschool!

Mission: Provide comprehensive and high quality education in an inclusive social setting by professional, competent, and compassionate staff. Promote the growth and development of children and families while improving their quality of life in an ever changing society.

The Food Pantry at Little Spartans Preschool will be distributing items on Thursday, February 9th from 3:30-5:00p.m. and Thursday, February 23rd from 4:00-5:30p.m. The February 23rd time is a change because of LSP's School Readiness Carnival. This is open to all Fayette County School Corporation families. Please enter the building through the front doors.

The Fayette County Public Library is hosting a Safe Sleep Event on Friday, February 10th from 4:00-5:15p.m. This event is FREE and requires registration. Registration can be completed on the library's website or call 765-238-7809.

All LSP families are welcome to join us for an evening of FUN on Thursday, February 23rd from 4:00-7:00p.m. Please RSVP on the flyer that will go home on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, April 6th from 5:00-7:00p.m. LSP will have a craft for families to do at the event!

Firefly and the Early Learning Coalition of Fayette County have partnered on a Ready4K resource for families. Families can call the Firefly office at 765-827-2045 if they would like to enroll in the Ready4K resource.

Formerly knows as Children's Bureau, Firefly can support families in many ways! Give them a call at 765-827-2045.

In Indiana, it's illegal for drivers to pass a stopped school bus that has its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended. Violators are not only putting a child's safety at risk, but they will also receive a fine. School buses are equipped with technology to track offenders. Please help us keep our children safe by stopping for school buses!

1. Head Start- 3-5 year old children, must meet eligibility requirements, Monday-Thursday 1/2 day OR Monday-Friday full day (4-5 year old children only)
2. Title One Preschool- 4-5 year old children, Monday-Friday 1/2 day
3. Developmental Preschool- 3-5 year old children, Monday-Friday 1/2 day
4. Kindergarten Transition- (Ms. Erin's class), 5 year old children who are Kindergarten eligible and pre-selected from the 21-22 school year, Monday-Friday full day

8:00-11:30a.m. OR 11:30a.m.-3:00p.m.

Full Day Sessions

8:00a.m.-3:00p.m.

Morning drop-off begins at 7:50a.m. each morning.
