Digital Escape Rooms
Integrating Digital Escape Rooms in the Online Classroom
My Proposal
The lab activities that I would be replacing had traditionally been presented as a "Show-and-Tell" type activity that was very lecture-oriented. Different organisms were discussed and preserved specimens were passed around the classroom. For an online course, the material was even harder to convey--students looked at PowerPoint slides and lab sheets to retain the material needed for the course. The students were very uninterested and indifferent to the material. With the increased popularity of the "Escape Room" industry, I began to develop a way to implement this concept into the classroom with the aid of fellow instructors.
