We encourage students to be creative and construct their own costumes from upcycled materials. We have asked for no inflatable costumes this year. We can’t wait to see all of your Miscoe Hill spirit!!!!

Picture make ups and retakes will take place this Wednesday, October 27. Pictures were passed out on Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15 during homeroom.

If a student would like retakes they just need to bring the pictures in on Wednesday; they do not need to fill out another form.

The Miscoe soccer teams will be playing Wednesday, October 27 under the lights in the Grafton stadium to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness. Please come support our teams.

Blackstone Valley Education Foundation and Worcester Polytechnic Institute are excited to offer a "Women in STEM Leadership Academy" to MURSD. Deadline is this Thursday, October 28, 2021.

This in-person program will enroll thirty female and non-binary students who are in 7th and 8th grade. The students who are accepted and participate in the Women in STEM Leadership Academy will attend five Saturday sessions at WPI’s campus, each for 3 hours, totaling 15 hours of curriculum. This program is free to students that attend a BVEF full member school district.

The focus of the program is exploration within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and the development of leadership skills. The STEM curriculum will be delivered by trained WPI undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty who will provide hands-on, project-based education. Each session will include hands-on project-based work, understanding the engineering design process, uses for STEM in everyday life, and career applications. Leadership skills will be integrated into each STEM workshop, showing that interpersonal skills are a key factor to success. Examples of these skills include communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and presentation skills. At the conclusion of the program, all students will be provided resources and tools to continue their journey in leadership and STEM.

All sessions are held on Saturdays from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

eCYBERMISSION is a free national web-based STEM competition open to all students in grades 6-9. Students will work in teams of 3-4 students from Miscoe to identify a problem in their community, solve it following science and engineering principles, and communicate their work online to judges comprised of researchers and engineers working for the Department of Defense (DoD). Teams can identify problems that can be solved through exploring a wide variety of STEM topics (including: Robotics, Programming, Energy, Environment, Food & Fitness, Health & Safety, and many more!). Students will collaborate with their team to perform all of the tasks necessary to complete their Mission Folder, including either developing and conducting an experiment or designing and building a prototype. Each team works with an adult Team Advisor who is there to assist and coach them, but students also have access to an online network of expert DoD researchers and engineers from across the country who are excited to offer virtual help. eCYBERMISSION Club will meet November through February afterschool at Miscoe on Mondays. Initially meetings will run 2:45p - 3:45p, but in December/January we will extend meetings to be 2:45p - 4:15p. Rina Manser (Miscoe Hill Sixth Grade Teacher) and Michael Manser (Mechanical Engineer at the Natick Army Labs) will serve as team advisers for teams. Term 1 ends on November 8. Students and parents/guardians should check PowerSchool for updated information about course assignments and grades. Students and parents/guardians should reach out directly to teachers with questions and/or concerns.
