Community Crew News #22
January 19th, 2024
Greeting Conway Community,
Our week ended with our EPIC awards. Conway has many students who deserve recognition. We are proud to regularly recognize students during our weekly Crew Celebration on Thursdays.
As an Expeditionary Learning School, it is essential for us to also recognize scholars and active citizens for their E.P.I.C growth and achievement. On Thursday and Friday we were thrilled to invite families onto campus and celebrate the incredible work of our learners as scholars and citizens.
Our EPIC awards are deeply connected to our EUSD Framework for the Future. The awards honor our Ethical scholars, critical thinkers, and empathetic collaborators. These learner profiles are deeply rooted in our model and live within our EPIC scholar and active citizen awards that honor our learners in their growth toward Mastery of Knowledge and skills (academic skills), Character, and High Quality Work. Congratulations to all our awardees.
Speaking of High Quality Work, our Staff Crew has been working on their own high quality work. Staff have created ceramic pieces that are represent their core values. Make sure to look for these displayed around our campus soon. As a Conway Crew, we also learn and practices what we teach and believe.
If you do not live within our boundaries and want to remain at Conway, please remember to submit your SOC. The last day to submit a School of Choice application is Wednesday, January 31st.
Rain is forecast for next week. Please see the map below for pick-up if it's raining at dismissal. TK and kindergarten students are picked up at the classroom.
Communication is extremely important to everyone at our EPIC school. Please make sure to scroll all the way through the weekly message. If you miss a message, you can view all communication on our website under "NEWS".
I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school.
We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.
Always in crew,
Tina Meglich, Principal
Principal Weekly Update #22
It is likely that it will rain on early this week.
Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for the conditions, rain jacket, boots, poncho, or umbrella. If raining in the morning, students should line-up at classrooms not the blacktop.
The Cougar store does have ponchos for redemption of cougar paws.

Who can participate and receive services?
Students need regular dental care (2-4 times per year) to have and maintain a healthy mouth and teeth. If your child already has a dentist, you can continue seeing your regular dentist. If your child does NOT have a dentist, or has not been to a dentist in over 6 months, then your child is eligible for this program.
If your child is currently enrolled in Medi-Cal, please provide your insurance information and we will bill Medi-Cal for the services rendered. If your child is uninsured, we will see them at no-cost to you.
What will my child receive through this program?
Your child will be seen by a Dentist or Registered Dental Hygienist on-site at your child’s school. The dental team may provide some of these services for your child:
Complete Dental Exam
Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride treatment
X-rays
Pictures of his/her teeth
Sealants
What should I do if I want my child to participate?

Birthday Announcements
You may ask how do we celebrate birthdays at Conway?
We have two unique ways that we celebrate.
First, in the main office you can fill out a form to have your child's birthday acknowledged on our electronic marquee to display a 24 hour message. The cost is only $5. If you cannot make it into the office, you can complete the electronic form https://forms.gle/3dMLHhiK5MTXJdpL9
and send in $5 cash and send it in with your learner. If it is a surprise please put it in an envelope addressed to the Conway ASB.
Second, our office staff has added a fun way to acknowledge each student's birthday. Students can visit the office for a special birthday pencil and cougar paw.
