A Night in Wonderland!
Ticket purchases are closed for the Night in Wonderland Dance. This event will take place in the BHMS Gym from 5-7pm on Friday, October 27, 2023.
If you student is a part of ASES, the locker rooms will open at --- so that students can get ready for the dance.
If you student is not a part of ASES, they need to go home after school and get ready there and return to campus for the 5pm start of the dance.
Please make sure to pick your student up promptly at 7pm. Students will not be allowed to leave the dance early, unless a parent walks up to the front stairs to get them or they have a phone confirmation with a BHMS staff member (your student can call you) that you are letting them leave early. We do not want our students wandering around outside of school when you expect them to be here.
We look forward to a festive evening in Wonderland.
Halloween Costume Guidelines
In order to make the day a success, we ask for your support by reinforcing the specific guidelines below that provide greater clarity to our costume expectations. Most importantly, all costumes must meet BHMS dress policy.
Costume Reminders:
1. Costumes may not include full face masks or cover the face.
2. Costumes may not be violent or suggestive.
3. Costumes may not have anything simulating a weapon.
4. Costumes may not suggest racial attitudes that reinforce stereotypes about, mock or mischaracterize a culture, group of persons, an individual person or a religion. We are asking students to refrain from dressing up as fictionalized stereotypes that marginalize any one culture.
ASES Sports News
The ASES cross country team traveled to Mt. SAC on Friday, October 13th for the 75th annual Mt. SAC Invitational. Our runners competed against hundreds of middle schools not only from California, but from other states as well. Our runners did an incredible job, with our 6th and 8th grade boys placing 3rd overall, with our 7th grade boys placing 4th. In addition, one of our 6th grade female runners placed 2nd overall, which is incredible! Congratulations to all our runners, and to coaches Flynn, Hernandez, Paquette, and Cavendish!
ASES basketball will be beginning in the next few weeks. Please stay tuned for more information in the Bobcat News and morning announcements about registration and tryouts. We anticipate having this happen the last week of October of the first week of November. We hope to have you join us for another great season of ASES basketball, here at BHMS!”

WHERE: Bernardo Heights MPR
RSVP: Please RSVP by 11/02.
If a parent/guardian isn't able to attend this lunch, you can still RSVP for your student.
We're hoping all of our military-connected students are able to attend.
Day Use Chromebook Loaners
With the start of Quarter 2, the Library wanted to send a reminder that all students have a clean slate for Day Use Chromebook Loaners. While the Library does not loan chargers, we do loan a Chromebook for day use at school only. Students should bring charged Chromebooks to school every day.
REMINDER:
Student's need their cases on their Chromebooks. We understand they are bulky, but 1 out of 3 Chromebooks come in for damage from the case not being on the Chromebooks. It is possible some of the damage could be prevented with a case on the device.

BHMS Amazon wish list
Over the years, Bernardo Heights Middle School has received many unique and thoughtful gifts from students and families. The kindness and generosity have always been greatly appreciated each year.
As we continue to build on family connections and a culture of belonging for our home away from home, we are working on redesigning our Family Waiting Room (located in the Administration building) as a comfortable hub of information that will highlight student achievements, share PTSA information, BHMS and PUSD information.
When purchasing an item for our Family Waiting Room, your name will be included on a one-of-a-kind sponsorship plaque to show our Bobcat Appreciation for your donation to Bernardo Heights Middle School. This plaque will be hung in the BHMS Family waiting room.

Snack Donations
Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well!
As you may know, our counseling department works hard to support the social/emotional and mental well-being of our students. As part of our efforts to provide a supportive environment, we are looking for your help in providing snacks for our students who utilize the counseling center throughout the day.
We kindly request that parents bring in individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, trail mix, chips, crackers, fruit snacks, and bottled water. Your contributions will make a difference in helping us support the needs of our students and we appreciate any donations you can provide. Snacks will be dropped off at the main office, and we will make sure they are delivered to the counseling department.
Thank you for your continued support!
The BHMS Counseling Team
More than a Meal (formerly called FREE & REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATION)
Our district receives additional funding based on the percentages of students who qualify through this process. Please help BHMS by applying.
