No School November 22 - 24 - Thanksgiving Break
A Note of Gratitude...
The staff at BIS has been intentional these last couple of weeks to recognize all that we have to be thankful for. While there are so many things, we've found that we are continuously grateful for our students, our parents, and our community. Blair Oaks is such a special district to be part of. Thank you for sharing your children with us every day and trusting us with them. Thank you for the support you give our teachers, whether it's in the form of a nice note, a lunch carry-in item, or having supportive conversations with your kids at home. We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving break, and hope you feel just as thankful to have us, as we do you.

Student Shout Out's
We want to recognize the wonderful things our students are doing outside of school in addition to their accomplishments at school. Whether it's playing in a soccer game or winning a karate tournament, we would love to showcase and celebrate our students! Please fill out the form below letting us know of anything special your student is doing outside of school (and include pictures if you can!) These will be featured on display screens throughout the school. We will continue to have this form available in future newsletters and on our school website so you can access it any time!
Sonic Sponsors
It doesn't take much to make a teacher's day, and one of the easiest ways to do that is treating them to a Sonic drink! If you would like to provide Sonic drinks for our teachers (we get them on Fridays) please reach out to Mrs. Burns (tburns@blairoaks.org) for further details. Drinks can be donated on behalf of an individual, an organization/business, or even anonymously if that is preferred.
A note from the counselor...Ms. Katnik!
For the month of October, the topic we focused on in Counseling was safety. Throughout this month, we focused on a few different things that have to do with this topic. We talked about personal safety, which included a discussion about making safe and smart choices when around strangers or people we don't know and a discussion about keeping ourselves and our bodies safe and telling a trusted adult if we feel unsafe or uncomfortable. We also celebrated Red Ribbon Week, where we talked about making healthy / safe choices and saying no to drugs and alcohol. In addition, we discussed peer pressure and the importance of saying no / not giving in when others are pressuring us to make unsafe choices.
Make sure to check back in about a month for another update on what we are doing in Counseling!
Home & School
All parents (grades K-5) are welcome to join Home & School! This is our version of a PTA and provides an opportunity for parents to become involved with the school by taking leadership in planning yearly teacher appreciation incentives, extra-curricular events, and support for students and teachers. Meetings are held monthly and anyone can join at any time!
