STEM Camp for Incoming 3rd - 5th Graders

Each elementary school will host a summer STEM camp for our incoming 3rd-5th grade students. This two day camp will take place on July 11th & 12th from 8am-11am. It will be held at your child’s elementary school and taught by the school’s STEM teachers.

Due to the popularity of this camp and the capacity limitation of 26 students per location, a lottery drawing will be held to determine which students will be offered a spot. If your family is interested, please complete this interest form to enter your child into the lottery. A separate form must be completed for each student who is interested in participating.

There is no cost for STEM Camp. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide district transportation.

Sherwood School District will host a 1-day STEM Camp at each of the elementary schools. The camp will run from 8am-11am on July 13th. More information and registration details can be found here.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks can still be customized and ordered at any time, but will not ship to school with the bulk order. They will ship it to your home for $5.99 + the cost of the book. Please make note that choosing rush shipping will not guarantee the book will arrive by the end of the school year. For more information, check out this flyer.

Forecasting Reminder for 5th Grade Students Attending SMS Next Year

Do you have a 5th grade student attending Sherwood Middle School next year? Don't forget to have your student submit their forecasting form for next year to their classroom teacher or our Front Office by Wednesday, June 7th.

Please make sure to have forms in by the deadline! SMS will not be forecasting in August so students need to make sure they complete their forms and turn them in on time, or their electives will be chosen for them. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please reach out to the SMS Registrar Allison Kopp at akopp@sherwood.k12.or.us or at 503-825-5520.

Last Day to Submit Volunteer Background Checks

The last day to submit background checks for volunteering during this school year is June 4th. If you are signed up to volunteer for the first time for an end-of-year event, please submit your background check form on or before June 4th. Please note that submissions take 7-10 business days to process. Submission are done electronically here.

Classroom parties and field trips require a background check. Audience members for K and 5th grade promotion do not require a background check.

Site Council Volunteer Opportunity

The Middleton Site Council has open positions for the 23-24 school year and we hope you will consider joining the team. Site Council meetings are held bimonthly from 2:30 - 3:30. The purpose of the team is to provide feedback around school improvement goals and guide the school towards achieving these goals. The positions are open to any interested parent/guardians who will work alongside staff and the principal. If you are interested, please email Michelle Wunnicke mwunnicke@sherwood.k12.or.us

Kindergarten Registration

Registration for our incoming Kindergarten class is available online using the link below. Incoming Kindergarten students must turn 5 prior to September 1. Registering early helps the school and district start planning for the fall.

Online Kindergarten Registration

During online registration, new families will create a Sherwood ParentVUE account. Parents of current and former Sherwood students will log in with their existing ParentVUE account. Please call the Middleton front office at 503-825-5300 if you have any questions.

Paper Registration

Families are also welcome to register using paper registration. Paper registration packets can be picked up from the Middleton front office.

Welcome Kindergarten Newsletter

The Welcome New Kindergarten Families newsletter is a special edition newsletter for any families with an incoming Kindergarten student that will be joining us next year. This newsletter provides the information and links needed to successfully register, make plans, and start getting involved with the school. Please feel free to share the Kinder newsletter with any families with a Kindergarten age child who may not have heard about Kindergarten registration.

Pre-Kindergarten Registration for 2023-24

Pre-Kindergarten applications are open at Hawks View, Middleton, and Ridges! Our programs provide high quality early learning opportunities for typically developing children and children with developmental delays and disabilities.

Summer Learning Opportunities

Moving to the Middle-current 5th graders-Registration Now Open

Sherwood School District is pleased to offer the popular 4-day Moving to the Middle transition class for incoming 6th graders who will be attending Sherwood Middle School in the fall. More information and registration details can be found here.

Volunteering

There are many opportunities to volunteer at Middleton. All volunteers will need to a) complete a background check and b) submit a proof of vaccination or receive approval for a vaccination exception.

Background checks are completed online: Background Check Forms. Background checks may take up to 10 days to process.
Proof of vaccination are submitted to the Middleton front office in person or via email (mwunnicke@sherwood.k12.or.us). This can be done on the first day of volunteering. Vaccination exception forms, if needed, can be found here: Medical Exception Request or Religious Exception Request. Completed exception forms are emailed to Steve Emmert at semmert@sherwood.k12.or.us. Exceptions may take up to 14 days to process.

Girls Basketball - 2023 Summer Camp

The SHS Girls Basketball coaches will be hosting a summer camp for 3rd-8th grade students July 17-20. Cost for the four day camp is $125 per student, and all participants will receive a camp t-shirt if they register by June 21!
