Book Fair & Field Day
We started telling you about our Book Fair and Field Day a few weeks ago and now they are both finally here. We are excited to be able to offer these opportunities. The Scholastic Book Fair will connect your kids to notable books and inspiring characters — helping them become lifelong readers. All purchases will directly support our school! See the section below to make sure you and your growing reader are ready to shop.
Field Day is a special day at many elementary schools. We are looking forward to warm weather, fun activities, and using our brains and bodies in different ways. Read the Field Day section below for more information about what you should pack for your student and ask about after school!
Artistically & Academically Yours,
Betsy Compton, M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed.
Principal

Field Day Details
Field Day is Friday, April 30th at TeSA for ALL students. Please make sure your student comes to school with a WATER BOTTLE labeled clearly with their name. Family members are welcome to come and watch after signing in with the office. Students may be mask-free while participating in outside activities. Parents are asked to keep masks on at all times.
Field Day Schedule:
Kinder, First and Second Grades: 8:15 am–11:30 am
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades: 12 pm–3:15 pm
**Sixth grade helps Coach B run the show!**
What to Wear:
(ALL students should come to school dressed in Field Day attire)
Tennis shoes are required—there may be some muddy areas, so old tennis shoes are best!
• Girls: Field Day T-shirt or PE shirt, PE shorts or any shorts made of fabric that can dry quickly. Many girls prefer to wear a one-piece swim suit underneath their tops & bottoms for the water slide. Shorts must stay on the entire day and shirts may be removed for the waterslide only. Shoes are also removed for the water slide.
• Boys: Field Day T-shirt/PE shirt, PE shorts/shorts that dry quickly OR bathing suit shorts.
Purchased Field Day T-shirts will come home with your student by Wednesday, 4/28.
Tips:
• Please have a towel to use after water slide & games with water. The morning water stations can be chilly!
• Some students like to have a hat, sunglasses & even goggles for the water slide!
• Sunscreen and bug spray are also great ideas to remember.
• A small backpack or bag to carry all the above items in as your student participates is very helpful.
• Kinder, 1st & 2nd graders must bring a DRY change of clothes/spirit wear/uniform for AFTER Field Day festivities, including top, bottoms, socks, undies & maybe even shoes! It’s also a good idea to send a grocery sack for wet clothes!!
KONA ICE IS COMING AT THE END OF FIELD DAY!! If your student would like to have a snow cone with their class, please send $3 to your child’s homeroom teacher Monday through Thursday of next week. We are prepaying for the snow cones so the money doesn’t get sticky!!!
If you have any additional questions about Field Day, contact Coach B at page.burkhalter@mytesa.org.

TeSA Applause
My daughter just joined back with in person learning in Kinder this last week. She was excited to re-join friends and teachers, but she was also a bit scared and worried too. Several times she has cried at school for various reasons, she has already lost a sweater, and is also a bit confused about why she is not dancing in the Spring Performance. Returning to in person learning has not been super easy for her or me. Ms.Majeske has not missed a beat helping is both adjust. Anytime I email her asking about my daughter, she responds quickly and with great empathy. She has helped me hunt for the sweater, she has sent me photos of artwork and made helpful suggestions. She has also sat my daughter next to another girl with whom she has become wonderful friends very quickly and allowed to flourish in friendship (even though they both might talk a bit too much). Ms. Majeske has helped to ease both my daughter and my own concerns and fears by being incredibly reliant, empathetic, and responsive. Thank you!
