Hutto ISD Human Resources Newsletter

HR News is Hutto ISD’s Human Resources newsletter for all Hutto ISD employees. The goal of our newsletter is to provide Hutto ISD faculty and staff with important information that is Human Resources and customer service related.

Last Day to Resign

In accordance with Texas Education Code § 21.210, this year’s penalty free resignation deadline is Monday, July 3, 2017. Thus, the District is NOT required to accept resignations after the Monday, July 3, 2017 deadline.

Please Note:

· Employees under contract wishing to resign MUST do so not later than the 45th day before the first day of instruction. This is commonly called the “Penalty Free” resignation period.

· A District may hold an employee to their contract if a resignation is received after the 45th day before the first day of instruction.

· TEA / SBEC may sanction the Certificate of an educator who fails resign according to this law and/or who abandons a contract after the 45th day before the first day of instruction.

Moved? Got Married? New Phone Number?

It is important that HR have updated information on file for you. Please login to Talent Ed Records and select “Blank Doc” to update your name and/or address. Please also complete a new W4 form. If your name has changed, please bring your Social Security card showing your new name to HR.

In The Spotlight

We will introduce one of our wonderful faculty or staff members in each newsletter! Do you know a co-worker who has a fascinating story about their life? Do you have a genealogy that is particularly interesting? Does your boss have a skill that you think the District should know about? We want to spotlight them in the HR newsletter! Email Dria Davis with suggestions for our quarterly employee spotlight.

Kendall Hong, Technology Systems Integrator

For 2.5 years, I supported staff and students throughout the District as a computer technician, but have recently taken on the role of technology systems integrator. In this position, I work with educational and administrative software platforms, and manage the flow of data between these systems.

I have a passion for computers, electronics, and music. Some of my favorite hobbies include building and flying drones, and I was fortunate to work with Ryan Mann (HMS) earlier this year to bring drone technology into the classroom!

I am a musician, and have played the guitar for over 20 years. Although, I enjoy playing many styles of music, metal is my forte. I also dabble in audio engineering, and I produced a Christmas album for the FMS Jazz Band at my home studio in 2014.

I live in Hutto with my wife, Kelly Hong, and Penny, our Labrador puppy. Kelly is an Instructional Technologist here in HISD.

New HR Generalist

Please join us in welcoming HR Generalist Brenda Alford to the HR team! Brenda will provide support for daily human resource operations and handle routine HR inquiries.

Brenda will also assist with coordination of the employee benefits program for the district and coordination of leave of absence for district employees. She will maintain records and provide assistance to employees to ensure effective use of benefits.

Open Enrollment

The annual enrollment period for the 2017-2018 plan year is July 22, 2017 through August 22, 2017. Annual Enrollment is the one time of year that you can add a new plan or new dependents without experiencing a special enrollment event. Please remember about these dates before you leave for the summer. More information about open enrollment will be posted on social media and reminders sent via Hutto ISD email.

Leave Procedures

Any employee who is absent more than three days because of a personal or family illness must submit medical certification from a qualified health care provider confirming the specific dates of the illness, the reason for the illness, and in the case of personal illness the employee's fitness to return to work.

Any employee who is absent more than five days because of a personal or family illness, including pregnancy related disability, should schedule a leave of absence consultation via email: hr@huttoisd.net.
