Winter Break (December 21st - January 5th)
Winter Break is coming up at the end of this week! While these two weeks are a great time for you to rest, relax, and spend time with your family and friends, they also provide an opportunity for you to catch up on some work or do some things you just haven't yet had time for.
Ms. Frehner's Winter Break Recommendations:
Ms. Frehner's Winter Break Recommendations:
- If you are behind in progress in the OLS, work in the courses you're behind in (especially if you're currently working in 3rd grade courses).
- READ! I know this is what I'll spend a lot of my time doing (especially while I'm traveling). Get wrapped up in the magic and wonder of a good book. BONUS: We will be doing our Book Review Writing Workshop the week we return from Winter Break, which means you will need to have recently read a book.
- Write some computer code! Visit code.org and work on some of their mini-lessons.
- Practice your multiplication facts. This is SO important for you as a 4th grader. multiplication.com is a fun website where you can play games that will help you practice your multiplication facts.
The Hour of Code
Congratulations to Eshaun L., Sebastian A., Kaleb M., Jaden W. and Summer C. for successfully completing the Hour of Code! Both of these students sent me their Certificates of Completion, proving that they have mastered the Hour of Code and demonstrated an understanding of the basic concepts of Computer Science.
If you want to join the over 16 million other masters of the Hour of Code, visit this website: http://csedweek.org/ to get started!

The week we return from winter break, we will begin our Book Review Writing Workshop. You must have read a book in order to review it, so during winter break, select a book you would like to read and review. Make sure it is completed by January 6, 2014.
Drop an Elective
You have the choice to drop either your music or foreign language course. If you would like to drop one of these electives, please let me know ASAP either by sending a k-mail request or calling my office at (702) 407-1825 x7055.
Writing Workshop
Our next writing workshop will be covering Composition 4: Unit 3 - Writing a Book Review. You may skip this unit in your composition course until we get to it in January.
