CHS & Class ACT Board Report

On April 20 the junior class visited UW Superior, Northwood Technical College, and Northland College. Students toured the facilities and learned about the many opportunities each school offered.

• The Awards Night is Wednesday, May 25, at 6:30 pm in the high school auditorium.
• Only seniors receiving an award need to attend the awards ceremony.
• No limit to guests.

• Saturday, May 28, at 1:00 p.m.
• Graduation will be held in the high school gymnasium.
• All guests will be seated in the bleachers.
• No limit to guests.
• Reserved seating will be available for guests who have difficulty sitting in the bleachers.
• Letters with detailed information was mailed to all senior parents/guardians on May 3.

Senior welding students attending NTC this year recently visited two businesses in the Rothschild area. They toured Schuette Metals and Imperial Industries. They were joined by their NTC instructors and students from Phillips and Prentice.

On Wednesday, May 18, the Price County Sheriff's Department and Park Fall Police Department did a presentation for parents and guardians in the high school library. They shared current drug use trends and updates on prevention measures and treatment efforts in our area. They also showed the audience where drugs can be hidden in plain sight in backpacks, bedrooms, clothing, etc. Afterward, they answered questions from those in attendance.

Congratulations to the National Honor Society members. We know these students place a high value on academic performance and work very hard in and out of the classroom. Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service are the pillars that NHS is built upon, and all of these students meet those core values. Newly inducted members are Nolan Niehoff, Alexis Grawvunder, Audrina Morris, Alayna Rybak, Maia Oswald, and Autumn Michalski.

Ms. Thomfohrda and her Painting II students showed off their skills on the sidewalks of Marshfield Clinic. They worked at both clinic locations in Park Falls and Phillips for National Hospital Week.

The high school completed a lockdown drill (intruder) on May 12. The students and staff were efficient, safe, and responsible throughout the 15 minute drill. I was very impressed with how they handled it. Officer Nevilier of the Park Falls Police Department observed the drill.

Mr. Scherwinski and his nutrition class battled it off in a chili cook off. Teams worked together to create the best chili in the high school. Five lucky high school staff members were chosen to taste test and judge the final product. Judges scored the chili on presentation and taste. The scores were close but team Secret Surprise Enjoy was crowned champion.
