A Letter from Superintendent Jones
Dear Families and Staff,
We hope this newsletter finds you all in high spirits as we embark on the second month of the school year! It's hard to believe how quickly time is flying by. As we settle into our routines and forge ahead on our educational journey, our theme: RE-ENERGIZING THE PRIDE, RENOVATING THE PLANS, and REBUILDING THE POSSIBILITIES, continues to drive the energy of our work!
Here's what's happening in our school community. Our scholars have settled into their classrooms and are already making incredible strides academically, socially, and emotionally. From mastering new concepts to building meaningful friendships, our scholars are blossoming before our eyes. We encourage you to continue supporting their growth by engaging in conversations about their day, reviewing assignments, and celebrating their achievements. We believe that a strong partnership between parents and teachers is key to scholar success. We appreciate the involvement and support of our parents last year. We are asking for more participation in attending parent-teacher conferences, staying connected through our communication channels, and actively participating in school events. Your collaboration and insights are invaluable, and we look forward to continuing this strong partnership throughout the year.
Our dedicated staff members have been working tirelessly to provide an enriching and engaging learning experience for all scholars. From planning creative lessons to fostering a positive classroom environment, their commitment to nurturing each scholars’ potential is remarkable. Let's take a moment to express our gratitude and appreciation for their unwavering dedication.
We believe that education extends beyond the classroom walls. That's why we're thrilled to offer a variety of extracurricular activities that cater to diverse interests and talents. From sports teams to clubs, music ensembles to drama productions, there's something for everyone! Check with your principal for more details! Encourage your child to explore these opportunities and discover new passions. We recognize the importance of promoting well-being among our scholars and staff. Throughout the year, we will be implementing various initiatives to support mental and physical health, such as mindfulness exercises, physical education programs, and workshops on stress management. Together, we can create a nurturing environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
In closing, we want to express our appreciation for your ongoing commitment to our school community. Your engagement, support, and enthusiasm are what make our school a vibrant and thriving place of learning. Let's continue to work hand in hand, celebrating achievements, nurturing growth, and creating a positive and inclusive environment for all.
Sincerely,
Kevelin B. Jones II

Flint Board of Education Meetings
New Safety Protocol
The Board of Education welcomes and encourages visits to schools by parents, other adult residents of the community, and interested educators. To that point, It is necessary to establish visitor guidelines that support educational programming to continue undisturbed when visitors are present, and to prevent the intrusion of disruptive persons into the schools. All visitors are required to sign in, pass through metal detectors, and present photo identification that will be scanned prior to entering all Flint Community School buildings. Visitors who refuse to provide identification forfeit their entry into Flint Community School buildings.
