MST Weekly Update
January 13, 2023
A reminder that we are quickly approaching the end of the 2nd quarter. Students are being reminded daily to get all past work made up by that date so that they will show progress on their upcoming report cards.
Monday is a federal holiday, Martin Luther King Day, so we will not be in school. Students will return on Tuesday January 17th.
New Websites for the School and the District
MST has a new and improved website that went online Wednesday. It is still under construction with more information to added in the weeks and months ahead.
The new site can be viewed by clicking on the picture or going to Manchester School of Technology | Home (mansd.org)
The School District also has a new website that can be seen at MANCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT | Home (mansd.org).
Bonfire
On Friday January 27th, MST will be having a bonfire in our parking lot from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. This activity, sponsored by the sophomore class, will be a fun night of games, music, food and friendship. Tickets will $5 and they will be on sale during lunches starting Wednesday January 18th. MST students may bring a guest from another school provided they submit the permission form that must be signed by an administrator from the other school.
New Date and Venue for the 2023 Prom
The 2023 MST prom has been rescheduled to Friday May 19th from 6:00 PM-10:00 PM. It will be held at The Farmhouse at Candia Woods golf course. It is a beautiful facility that was recently renovated. More information about ticket sales will be coming later in the spring.
City Year Opportunity
City Year offers an opportunity for high school graduates to work with school children within our own community. Current seniors may want to look at this as an option for post graduate work.
- Our corps members serve as Student Success Coaches: tutors and mentors to students, supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth
- They serve on a diverse team in a systemically under resourced school and partner with a teacher in one classroom for the year
- They also join City Year's inclusive and supportive community—often making lifelong friends—and emerge oriented towards a lifetime of public service
- 2-minute videos on what our members do and our impact
- Corps members receive a bi-weekly stipend of $890 and 100% paid health, vision, and dental insurance
- We'll help them find housing here or they can live at home
- They also receive a $6900+ education grant at the end of the year
- 60 days of PD (all August and every Wednesday) include training on pedagogy, topics in DEI, career support, clarity on mission and values, and community building
The First Student Assistance Student Assistance Program Comes to MST High
Student Assistance Programs (S.A.P.s) have been in place at the other high schools and middle schools in Manchester for decades. This is the first year that there is a Student Assistance Program (S.A.P.) at MST High School. MST High students now have the opportunity to participate in peer support groups and get help with substance use, to cope with the substance misuse of a family member, to manage stress or to grieve the death of a loved one. Most students sign up to participate on their own. Friends, teachers, administrators, parents and other concerned people can make referrals. Participation in the program by students is voluntary and confidential. More information about the Student Assistance Program (S.A.P.) is available on the MST home page under Guidance Services (Manchester School of Technology - SAP Student Assistant Program (mansd.org)).
Please contact Mary-Jo Bourque at 603-624-6490 X2113 for more information.
CTE Information Night
MST will have a CTE Information Night on Thursday February 2nd, from 5:30-7:30. This is an opportunity for all 9th and 10th grade students from Manchester and surrounding towns to visit our school and our CTE programs. Many teachers will be available to explain their programs and answer questions. CTE course selection will occur in early February for all MSTHS 9th grade students.
