It's Great To Connect With You Again!
We can't believe we are entering the fourth quarter of the school year. The snow is hopefully behind us! The students have been enjoying the time outside and it's great to see them all play.
Report cards for Grade 6-8 will be sent home with students on April 14, 2022. Continue to check PowerSchool for the most up-to-date information in regards to your child's learning.
You can reach out to our staff should you have any questions. You can find the staff directory here.
Over the past few weeks, we are noticing an increase in vandalism happening, especially in our bathrooms. For example, wet paper towels being thrown, graffiti on the walls, countertops, and stalls, broken dispensers, etc. While we continue to have conversations with our students about our Cougar Code and the expectations we have for the students In Our House, we ask that you have the conversation with your child at home also.
Change in Administration for the 2022-2023 School Year
In August, Mr. William Klassen will join our team as Assistant Principal. Mr. Klassen is the current Principal in Hay Lakes and we are fortunate to have him join our school community.
School Council Meeting
On April 19, 2022, at 7:00 pm, we will host a hybrid school council meeting. We will host an in-person meeting in the Learning Commons. We will also welcome any parents virtually through Zoom.
Parents and guardians play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning. By contributing knowledge, perspective, and ideas at school council meetings, parents actively contribute to the success of the school community.
If you are interested in joining virtually through Zoom, please email Pam Boyson, the Chair of our School Council at ecksparentcouncil@gmail.com to request the Zoom link.

Run for Ukraine!
ECKS Teacher, and long distance runner, Daylan Wizniuk, wants to help!
Mr. Wiz' dad's side of the family is of Ukrainian heritage, and his grandparents were part of the original committee that saw the creation of a giant perogy landmark created in Glendon. Growing up, Wizniuk was often surrounded by Ukrainian traditions.
So, when war broke out in Eastern Europe, Wizniuk felt the urge to do something. While he wasn't sure what type of response he would receive, Wizniuk felt the best way to draw attention to the cause would be through long distance running.
On the weekend of April 2 and April 3. Mr. Wiz ran a total of 168.8 km through the communities of Mundare, Vegreville, St. Paul and Glendon to bring recognition to his cause.
He acknowledges that there are many fundraisers taking place at the moment, and says he chose to fundraise through the Red Cross since the organization is well-known and has a good track record of getting funds where they are most needed. There is also an initiative taking place where businesses have committed to matching donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000.
Mr. Wiz spent time talking to all the students at ECKS about his cause and students were ecnouraged to bring money in to support Ukraine through Mr. Wiz' run. If you would like to donate also, please visit the link below. Funds raised will go to the Red Cross.
