A Note from the Principal

October was a very busy month at CES with so many wonderful events! I've greatly enjoyed being part of the CES community and seeing many of you at Fun Run, Book Fair, Fall Parties, Literacy Night and much more. Great thanks for the delicious Turkey Dinner for our staff during conferences week. It was a wonderful treat! As we end our first quarter for the year, I am so pleased with the accomplishments and successes of our scholars. The rest of the year will certainly be just as amazing as the start. Thank you for your continued partnership and support!

Tis the season to be thankful! CES sends out a huge appreciation to our volunteers for helping with our Fall Parties as well as the Book Fair. These events could not be a success without the help of our volunteers. We look forward to more events in the near future!

Conferences

Our teachers appreciated the time to meet and discuss your scholars successes so far this year. While the time was limited, we hope you found the information helpful. As the year progresses, please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions. Each month, the team newsletters will be a helpful resource to you in knowing about instructional skills and standards being reinforced in the classroom.

Lost and Found

Our student Lost and Found is acquiring a great deal of items. Please check with your scholar on any missing items and stop by our front lobby area to look for a lost item. All items left as of November 26 will be sent for donations at a local charity. Please claim your items by November 26!

American Education Week

The week of November 18-22 is reserved to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. At CES, we have several activities scheduled for our students. We invite all scholars to participate in Spirit Week as scheduled below:

Monday, Nov. 18 Show your CES pride by dressing in CES spirit wear and school colors.

Tuesday, Nov. 19 We are all one “team” when it comes to learning. Wear your favorite team clothing (football, soccer, baseball, etc.)

Wednesday, Nov. 20 Career Day-Learning at school will help you prepare for your future career. Dress like what you want to be when you grow up.

Thursday, Nov. 21 College Gear Day. Wear your favorite college clothing or colors.

Friday, Nov. 21 Learning is NO Sweat at CES because we work hard. Wear a sweatshirt.

Healthy Habits

FCPS strives to promote a healthy lifestyle for our scholars. Consider the 5-2-1-0 rule in your home to further reinforce wellness for our scholars.

5-2-1-0 is easy to remember and stands for:

5- Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day
2- Limit recreational screen time to two hours or less*
1 – Be physically active at least 1 hour a day
0 – Drink more water, 0 sugary drinks

*No screen time under the age of 2

Young Authors Contest

Students in grades 1-5 are invited to participate in a Young Author's Contest. The deadline for all entries is November 15. We look forward to many of our scholars participating in this contest!
