Protect Yourself from Phishing Scams

Unfortunately, phishing scams have become an unpleasant reality of our daily lives. There are many processes in place to protect our users while we are "in district" (signed in to our district network) and many people working behind the scenes to block harmful links as soon as they are aware of them.

Scammers are getting better and better at making the phishing emails look like legitimate emails. They are spoofing email accounts (making it look like it's sent from a district employee.) They often include links that appear to lead to common sites like Dropbox or Google Drive. However, if you hover over the link (without clicking), you can see the actual URL. The example below shows a questionable link.

Ultimately, individuals must protect themselves (and coincidentally, our network) from scams. And it's important to remember that scams are not limited to businesses and school districts. Use the same caution with personal accounts and when you receive emails on your phones or devices.
