HIDDEN VALLEY APRIL NEWSLETTER
FALL SPORTS
Fall sports has nearly come to a close, and I wanted to send a quick note of congratulations to all for many great successes. We have started spring sports and have one more Fall contest to go.
Volleyball had a rough go this year. New staff, no seniors, no big gym and a late start seemed to put them behind all year. There is a good nucleus of talent that bodes well for great future success. The entire year, they played teams who had the chance to play 6 or 8 matches before we could even practice as a team. These girls never quit, they displayed that great Mustang spirit and, we beat the Knights!
Boys soccer had a great season going 6-2-1 for a third place finish in the Skyline. This was an interrupted season due to a covid outbreak, but these boys played outstandingly. Big claim to fame this year? A season sweep of North Valley for the first time in 7 seasons for coach Saunders!
Football concluded their undefeated season with a 45-6 win at Sweet Home last Night. Our boys finished with a perfect 4-0 season outscoring opponents 156-25. We are known for a great offense, but that defense! Due to a 2 week covid quarantine, we were not able to play two games. Congrats to the Mustangs, Co-Skyline Conference Champions.
Our girls soccer season has come to an end. We lost to the number 1 ranked team in Oregon in the semifinals last night. It was a battle that went to a 7 attempt shootout following 2 ten minute overtime periods. The girls played their hearts out in a great game. They have logged 16 hours on a bus this week for state play, real road warriors. They were scheduled to play Philomath HS tomorrow in the third place game, but Philomath has forfeit. So, the Lady Stangs will be receiving the 3rd place trophy for the Oregon 4A State Championship Showcase, while also holding the crown of outright Skyline Conference Champions. Not a bad year, 9-2 overall with only 3 goals scored against them.
Cross Country is still running! Our girls season came to a close at the Southern Oregon and Skyline Championships Saturday. The boys, however, are looking to add some state hardware to compliment their Skyline Conference Champion Trophy. They start at high noon tomorrow at Marist High School.
Congratulate all these tough and resilient young men and women when you see them.
Go Stangs! Go Be Great!
Best Regards
