Integrated Arts News
Mrs. Bruce is looking for volunteers, with building experience, who would be willing to help build sets for this year's 3/4 musical, James and the Giant Peach. We are also looking for donations of materials (lumber, hardware, paint, etc) to help build the set. Please contact her if interested at cbruce@rnesu.org. Thank you!
3rd & 4th Grade Field Trip
On Thursday, November 2nd, the third and fourth grade students went to a performance of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" at Castleton. The students enjoyed the performance and got many compliments on their behavior! After the performance, the cast came out and met with the students. This trip was a great way to prepare for the hard work we will put into our own musical in the coming months!
What is Happening in the Lothrop Library?
Library Skills
We spent the first several weeks of school learning how to browse books, locate just right books for each grade and utilize online student resources. We have a new circulation desk with a self-checkout system. Each student now has their own library card and they are able to check out their books independently. Students can access the library when needed during the week and during their library class.
Overdue Books
Overdue notices are sent home periodically as reminders to students to return their library books. We do not fine at Lothrop. If your student damaged or lost a book, please have them chat with Mrs. Tate so that she can replace the book or repair it. Families are not required to replace a book, however, if a family chooses to do so, they can purchase an equivalent replacement and send it to school with their child. Thank you!
Thank You Lothrop PTO!
Thank you to the PTO and to all families who purchased books for the Lothrop School Library. The students and staff are very grateful for these new titles to our collection!
Digital Citizenship
1st through 6th grade classes are learning about digital citizenship for the months of October & November. Digital Citizenship is learning to be safe, responsible and respectful online. Our district uses curriculum from Common Sense Media and I focus on the importance of media balance, online privacy, leaving digital footprints, communication and cyberbullying. I highly recommend these online resources for families from Common Sense Media to help equip you as you navigate the digital world with your children. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at ctate@rnesu.org - Mrs. Tate
Sora: Audiobooks & Ebooks for All Students

- Click on the button "Sign in using Rutland Northeast SU 36"
- Sign-in with Google using your student's RNESU email address.
RNESU Author Visit at Lothrop
The RNESU district librarians hosted an event on Thursday, October 19 at Lothrop School. Vermont author, Katherine Arden was our guest. The event gave students the chance to meet and ask Ms. Arden questions about her writing process, where she gets her ideas and how to publish a book. It was a great evening attended by families across the district.

Special Thanks to Andrea Winslow who opens early for us and donates pumpkins and gourds to each student. We appreciate her kindness and generosity!
