Please join us for our LAST Families of Students of Color dinner on Wednesday (May 31), 6-8pm. As always, dinner and childcare are included. We'll make some decisions about events and meetings for next year, so please attend!

Congratulations to all our girls who completed the Girls on the Run 5k last weekend at Blue Lake Park! These girls worked so hard training over the past few months, in pouring rain, the hot sun, and everything in between. It was wonderful to see it all come together at an amazing 5k event! Special thank you to the parent volunteer coaches for an incredible season. If you are interested in learning more about Girls on the Run for next year, please reach out to Carolyn Sykes (csykes@pps.net).

Fifth grade families, please look for an email from Ms Szucs and Mr Ogletree about fifth grade promotion. There will be a short ceremony and fun activities starting at 1:15 on Wednesday, June 14, the last day of school. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Irvington office will be closing for the summer on June 23. While families are able to register online anytime, it can be helpful to be able to ask us questions about the registration process before we shut down. If you have an incoming kindergartener, please complete the registration process prior to June 23!

Thank you, families, for completing the Successful Schools Survey! Now that we have responses from families, staff, and students, we are able to view the data and think about what we want to change for future years. At this point, our Site Council and our staff have had the opportunity to look through them in detail.

In positive news, there's a big increase in family satisfaction with home-school communication (up twenty points from last year!) and in teachers' ability to form relationships with students and families (up thirty-seven points!).

The focus of our Site Council this year was on a sense of belonging among students. Specifically, we wanted to increase favorable responses from 69% to 75% and used student survey information to build toward that. (For example, our school dance, our talent show, and Popcorn Mondays came directly from Site Council!) Instead of an increase, however, the number dropped to 64%.

Next year we plan to focus on the same area. Our Site Council will continue to meet monthly to brainstorm ideas and execute our plans, but we need your input! Please consider joining next year's Site Council or let us know what you'd like to see to foster our students' sense of belonging at Irvington!

If you are a parent or caregiver of a neurodiverse student, our next group meet up will be casual and on Tuesday, May 30, after drop off at school. It will be in the PTA room (Room 109). Coffee and snacks will be provided. If you questions, contact Amy Dachtler at amydachtler@gmail.com.

The final Wednesday Walk + Roll to School Day is next week, May 31. It’s been so much fun seeing so many students and families walking and rolling to school this month! Join in on a walking group starting at 8:30am for the final one next week.

Mark your calendars: this year's talent show will be Friday, June 2, from 2-3pm. Families are invited to attend! Come see live and recorded acts of our amazing students. They've got some great things to show!
