Weekly Update ~ March 29, 2021
Election Day, Tuesday, April 6
On Tuesday, April 6, OGS will again be the host of an election site for local voters in the Consolidated Election. We have taken several steps to ensure the safety of our staff and students on this day. Outside visitors (voters and election officials), will not have any access to hallways or the building where students and staff reside during the day. The election will take place in our Junior High Cafeteria and all visitors will enter and exit through the external cafeteria door. As with any election we host, we will have the support of a uniformed officer while students are here as another step in ensuring safety throughout the day. Please be mindful of the extra traffic in our parking lots that day while you drop off and pick up your child.
As you may recall, we instituted these same measures on February 23, the last election day we hosted. We are pleased these steps worked well both for our students and staff, and our visiting voters.
Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
It was great to welcome our remote learners to school this morning for IAR testing. Everyone appeared to have smiling eyeballs and were ready to head to their classrooms to visit their online friends in 3-D. For our Eagles at School who are currently at home this week, thank you for your flexibility and assistance to allow all of our Eagles the opportunity to participate in our annual testing week.
Please remember to bring your devices charged and come with working headphones, a book to read and something to write with for the whole week.
What a season of holidays!
Happy Holi! Holi is the Hindu Festival of Colors. It started yesterday and ends tonight. This is a celebration like no other with eating, dancing, throwing colors and embracing the joy of spring and love. Please make sure you are only smearing colors on those who are willing to participate.
Chag Sameach! Passover started Saturday and will end Sunday, April 4th. This holiday for the Jewish community is celebrated with a ceremony on the first night with a family meal called the seder. Through this festival of Passover, people are meant to rejoice the Jewish peoples liberation from slavery and is one of the most signifiant holidays in this faith.
Happy Easter! For Christians, Holy Week started yesterday and will end on Monday, April 5th. This holiday includes five days of special significance which include: Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Modern observers celebrate by painting Easter eggs and hiding baskets of treats for children.
Ramadan Mubarak! Ramadan will begin Monday, April 12th and ends the evening of Wednesday, May 12th. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is the month of fasting for Muslims. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and abstain from food and water for the whole month. This is a time for the Muslim community to remember that God gave the first chapters of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. Families will gather and celebrate and take time to pray, reflect , practice self-discipline and focus on acts of generosity.
