We had a great time with our Read Across America Week guest readers! It is time to look towards the future and celebrate College and Career Awareness Week. Our school will celebrate the importance of graduating high school and choosing the right career path. We invite everyone to show excitement for the future and participate in the following spirit days...

Monday, March 13th: "I am crazy about graduating high school!"

• Wear your craziest, mismatched outfit.

Tuesday, March 14th: "I am geared up for college!"

• Wear your high school or college gear.

Wednesday, March 15th: "A success is what I will be!"

• Dress up as your future career.

Thursday, March 16th: "We've got big dreams!"

• Wear your pajamas.

Friday, March 17th: "My future is so bright!"

• Wear your brightest neon, hat, and sunglasses

Reminders:

• Families may come to eat lunch with your students. Please reach out to your child's teacher to let them know you are coming so they can plan for seating. Remember: NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK MAY BE BROUGHT IN. Upon arrival, please sign in at the front office and get a visitor's tag.

Each week during morning announcements, Mr. Bryan will announce the “Lion Cub Lingo” Words of the week. These words have been pulled from an academic vocabulary list that are most commonly used on formative and summative assessments. Students that use those words with adults in the building in the correct context can be rewarded with a House Point.

Synergy means collaborating to create 3rd Alternatives rather than settling for a compromise. When we Synergize, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts--one plus one equals three or more.

To Synergize:

1. Value Differences

• Valuing differences is the foundation of creating synergy. We are effective when we value and embrace the differences of others rather than rejecting or merely tolerating them. We see our differences as strengths, not weaknesses.

2. Seek 3rd Alternatives

• With the foundation of valuing differences in place, you can begin seeing 3rd Alternatives. The 3rd Alternative is achieved when two or more people work together to create a better solution than those individuals could separately. It's not your or my way; it's a better, higher way.

Lion Cub Leaders can help our community in many ways. Please bring your items and turn them into your homeroom teacher! We will continue collecting items through the end of March! Check out some of our commercials that students have created!

The points leader of the whole school for the 22-23 school year is Itzel S., in 2nd grade! She currently has earned 262 House Points so far this year!

In first place is Excelsior with 10483 points. The points leader for last week was Jordan W., in first grade. The Excelsior points leader for this school year is Itzel S., in 2nd grade.

Last week we celebrated National Social Worker Appreciation Week. Haw River Elementary is so fortunate to have Ms. Hill, and we appreciate everything she does. The Hospitality Committee provided her with some of her favorite treats to show our appreciation!

It's the Half-time mark for our Data Super Bowl. Now is a great time to pause and reflect on our work this year and continue to work towards our goals of "scoring a touchdown" and growing by 6 points every time we show what we know! Congratulations on the growth each house made so far this year. Lion Cubs Leaders are growing!
