Spring Sports
Dear Methacton Families and Community,
The Athletics Department was excited to host Spring Commitment Day for 11 additional seniors playing their sport at the next level today, Monday 4/3. We celebrated with family, coaches, friends and the 13 athletes who participated in the Fall Commitment Day.
Pictures soon to come! Congratulations to all 24 College Commitment Athletes for the class of 2023!!
Sincerely,
John M. Smink
Director of Athletics and Activities
Baseball
The baseball team had our Monday game suspended due to weather in the second inning with a 4-0 lead over Upper Moreland. Tripp Shytle led the big first inning with a two-run double and Ty Lohsen tossed a scoreless first inning. The date for completing the suspended game has not yet been determined.
On Friday, we traveled to Phoenixville for our first PAC contest with a hard fought and well played 2-1 road victory. Kross Howarth threw a three-hit complete game with no earned runs to earn the win on the mound. Tripp Shytle had both RBI with a sac fly & a huge 6th inning single that proved to be the game winner.
The Warriors are now 3-0 on the young season and will next travel to Perkiomen Valley this Monday night at 7:00 pm to open up Liberty Division play. Go Warriors!
Upcoming Events:
4/3 - Game vs. Perkiomen Valley (AWAY)

Softball
Methacton softball enjoyed two wins this week. Mondays 5-2 win against Unionville was highlighted by great pitching by Courtney Freese and two hits each for Mady Polonsky and Meg Lineen.
Fridays 12-0 win against Phoenixville saw Mia Pettine and Jillian McTamney hit home runs. Riley Kairer, Sydney Hockenbrock, and Jenna Kaufman all had a good day at the plate. Meg Lineen and Adrianna Hopple combined for a shutout from the circle.
The Warriors play Perk Valley on Monday at home.
Upcoming Events:

Boys Track & Field
Our first home dual meet against Norristown produced great results. The boys earned a win and, in the process, many PR's. Zach Willen, Wes Conover and SahBri Hill highlighted the day with their 100m sweep! Zach's blazing 10.76 is the fastest in the state currently and lowers his school record by .14, a huge margin in that event. All 3 of them qualified for the district 1 meet. Additionally, 10 athletes extended their season by qualifying for the PAC championship meet
On Saturday, at the North Penn Open, Zach matched his impressive effort from Wednesday in the 400m dash, breaking the 50 second barrier for the first time and running the 5th fastest time in the state. Jack Alpher won the javelin, and Aryaman Punshi and Evander Lackman also earned too 6 finishes in the 110 hurdles and 800m. Matthew Sandner and Mitch Alexander ran good races in the 3200 and 1600 to wrap up the day.
Upcoming Events:
4/4 - Meet vs. Perkiomen Valley (HOME)
4/11 - Meet vs. Boyertown (HOME)
Girls Track & Field
Track and Field competition started this week for the Girls Track and Field team with a home dual meet versus Norristown. The hard week paid off as the team rolled to a big win in our opener. On the track the team swept the top three places in 800 meters, 1600 meters, 100 and 300 meter hurdles with Kenslee O'Donnell running a District qualifying time. Plus strong showing in the relays winning both the 4x100 and 4x400 plus another District qualifying time by Summer Mellow in the 100 meters.
Not to be outdone, in the field events the girls team sweep the High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and the Pole Vault with Aubrie Wells added another District qualifying time. In the throws there were sweeps in the Shot Put and Javelin with freshman Sage Bowman and Eva Rojas leading the way. All in all a great way to start the season.
We ended up the week dodging the rain on Saturday at the North Penn Open Invitational. The team came home with medals with top three places in the following events: Aubrie Wells 3rd in the Pole Vault, Kenslee O'Donnell 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles, Molly Thomas with a 2nd place in the 2 mile and Kate Thomas 1st in the 1/2 mile.

Boys Lacrosse
Methacton Boys Lacrosse picked up their first win of the season Tuesday over an undefeated CB West before falling just short of back-to-back victories in overtime Saturday vs CB East. The boys have been improving each week and are playing very hard. We are excited to begin our PAC play Tuesday vs a big rival in Perk Valley and then Thursday vs Phoenixville.
Player Highlight - Levi Borkowski
Levi is our workhorse on our team and one of the best face-off players in the area. His ability to get us the ball over 10 times a game is crucial for our success going forward. On top of winning nearly every face-off Levi is a standout on defense when we need him and has the best motor on the team. His tough, all go style of play lifts the energy level every time he steps on the field. Levi plans to continue his schooling and athletics at Penn Technical school when he graduates in 2024. I have no doubt that he will apply his leadership and hard work mentality towards any field he chooses.
Upcoming Events:
4/4 - Game vs. Perkiomen Valley (HOME)
4/6 - Game vs. Phoenixville (HOME)
Girls Lacrosse
Methacton Girls Lacrosse Played Perk Valley Last Tues. and won 15-13.

The girls had the opportunity to travel this past weekend and played Stated College HS on Saturday and won 16 - 4. During that road trip to State College they were able to enjoy watching former Methacton goalie standout Mackenzie Clark play for Cornell vs PSU.
