Online registration for the 2022-2023 school year is open! You can find important back-to-school information, including school supply lists and information on residency verification, bus passes and more here. Meet the Teacher Night is Thursday, August 18th between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at every ISD Early Education and elementary building! Students will have the opportunity to find their classroom, meet their teacher and drop off school supplies in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year. Elementary families with completed registration and residency verification will receive an email from their student’s teacher on August 17th with additional information. If you have questions about Meet the Teacher Night, please contact your student's school directly.

The Independence School District is partnering with the City of Independence to host a COVID-19 vaccination event on Wednesday, August 17th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at William Chrisman High School. Vaccines will be available for those 6 months of age and older. Appointments are strongly encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Schedule an appointment and determine your dose eligibility here.

Now is your chance to join the ISD Transportation team! Our drivers enjoy weekends, holidays, snow days and summers off. We offer flexible hours and great benefits, including health insurance, a free fitness center, and access to the ISD Health Clinic. The ISD's Childcare Reimbursement Benefit also provides employees the opportunity to enroll their children in District-sponsored childcare programs at a reduced cost. Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, free and reduced-priced meals will only be available for eligible families with approved applications. Free and Reduced Meals applications must be completed annually for your student to receive meal benefits. Families with approved applications from the previous school year will receive a 30-day grace period to complete their new application at the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Children living within ISD boundaries are eligible to receive free books mailed directly to their homes each month from the month they are born until age five. As the only affiliate in our area, we look forward to instilling a love for reading in children in our community before they even register for school in the ISD. The Independence School District partners with Hazel Health to expand our student health services. Hazel offers virtual doctor visits accessible from the school nurse’s office for PreK – 12th grade. By gaining access to this tele-health service, many minor visits can be initiated by an ISD nurse in order to obtain a diagnosis without missing a day of learning. Parents will be notified prior to any virtual visit. ISD families can opt-in to Hazel here.
