LETTER FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL:
Dear Bobcat Families,
It is an exciting time of year, many wonderful events are under way and we are prepping for the ones around the corner. Tomorrow is our School-Wide STEM challenge. We will be testing the airplanes at lunch on the playground, Kindergarten will test theirs after lunch. I can’t wait to see the creative and innovative planes!
Read-a-thon has begun, so talk to friends and family and ask them sponsor you. There are so many great prizes. I hope the school raises enough money to silly string me at assembly or make me dress up as a Traffic Cone for the Day! Keep up the reading over break!
Sign up for STEM EXPO now. The Intent to Participate form is due March 11th, so be sure to sign up soon. Please watch this presentation to learn more about our STEM EXPO.
Finally, our International Week, March 21-25 and Gala, March 25th are coming quickly. The students will begin learning dances from other countries in the next few weeks and will be presenting them to the school on March 25th in the afternoon. Students and parents will lead presentations about other countries on March 24th during classes. My favorite, the Gala will held on the evening of March 25th 5:30-7:00 on the Santa Rita Blacktop. Students will present their dances, there will be delicious food and fundraising. Everyone is welcome! Bring your friends and family to this great event! If you are not sure what International Week is all about please watch this presentation. Look for more information to come soon.
Today, each student brought home a Covid Test kit today with two tests in it. Please use one test kit the Sunday before we come back to school (February 27th) and the other at the end of Spring Break. Please see below for a bit more information from the District. I hope that everyone has a relaxing, happy and safe winter break.
Stay Bobcat Strong!
Mrs. Kelly Rafferty
Take Home Covid Tests
Rapid Home Tests for All Families and Staff
Our school will be providing a box containing two home test kits to each child this week. The two tests are for your student to use following Winter Break and Spring Break. We know many families will be traveling or gathering with others over these vacations. To ensure the health and safety of all, we request all students and staff use the home test to ensure they are COVD-negative prior to returning to school. The tests will be distributed to your student in their classroom.
Please save these tests and use them on the below dates:
Sunday, February 27
Sunday, April 17
Please ensure your student tests negative before returning to school and immediately report any positive result OR symptoms to your school site and on the daily symptom tracker..
Please note: If your child has symptoms of illness and test negative on a home test, LASD requires a lab-confirmed antigen or PCR/molecular test result before your student can be cleared to return.
Thank you for keeping our community safe!
Estimadas familias,

Plastic containers
Corks

Buttons
Plastic Bottles
Toilet Paper Rolls
Paper Towel Rolls
Egg Cartons
Bottle Tops

In order to keep our lab stocked and ready for creativity, we need your S.T.U.F.F (Scraps That are Used For Fun). Please clean donations before bringing them to the lab, avoid glass or any other sharp materials, and feel free to donate all year long. Don’t be surprised if you see your materials transformed into fantastic innovations!
There is a box on the STEM LAB ramp where you can leave your donations.
