Diploma Exams!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Just kidding...we know many Gr. 12's will spend their break preparing for diploma exams. Here are diploma prep options that can be taken in person or online. Registration tends to fill quickly, so don't delay! Check out the 'Key Resources' page on the HS+ website for additional study tips and other learning resources (scroll to the bottom of the page).

Alberta Diploma Prep

A more affordable option at only $49 per course, they offer on-demand videos or in-person. In-person courses are held at the U of C in January and June.

Trades! Trades! Trades!

Industry continues to demand workers in all areas of the trades. One key characteristic that employers are looking for is 'competent' trades people. How do you develop your 'competency' in high school?

Despite the minimum requirements for most trades programs, consider challenging your academic skills by meeting or exceeding the recommended science or math course.
If your school has CTS, do your very best on your projects so your habits and skills will shine when you first start apprenticing.
If you are unsure of what trade to pursue, start with a work experience placement before you commit to a RAP placement.

The Alberta government is predicting a labour shortage in 2030 in the following trades-related fields: construction, landscaping, and general contracting with medium demand in all trades (AB Job Market Forecast 2022-24). Check out the minimum and recommended requirements below.

Do you want to attend university but U of A and U of C seem too competitive or too large? MacEwan may be the right school for you!

They offer both Bachelor Degree (4 years), Certificate (1 year), and Diploma (2 years) programs.

They provide a student-centered approach with both full-time or part-time studies, in-person or online, and future-focused and adaptive programs.

Some programs are competitive and others are first qualified, first applied, and first accepted.
