Williams Parent Bulletin
October 2023
October is Bullying Prevention Month
And just like that, we're in the second month of school! Thank you for jumping right in and supporting our Wildcats' events. We enjoyed having parents visit our school during the Constitution Day assembly and both our TK/K and Grade 1-5 Back to School Nights in September. As we transition into the month of October, we'll be moving straight into Bullying Prevention Spirit Week activities, Custodian Appreciation Day, Coffee with the Principal, T1 Mid-Trimester Progress Reports and the Great CA Shakeout. We are happy to announce that our Student Council is up and running and we're now taking applications for our WildTAPS Tap Dancing Program (grades 1-2) and the Video Bulletin Crew (grades 3-5) too.
This month, we will be focusing on the character trait of "trustworthiness." Students will have the principal visit their classrooms in order to participate in social emotional activities such as Second Step lessons, community circles, morning meetings and social stories.
Safety Update: Thanks to our parent and district partners, we were able to address the crossing guard issue at the Anchorage and Bard intersection with our Oxnard PD partners. Parent input was also key in having our City of Oxnard partners come over to Williams to begin taking car of the pot hole that is forming at the driveway entrance to our school.
Finally, we'd like to ask for your help to connect students with their lost items. PLEASE help students write their names on their sweaters/jackets, backpacks, lunch boxes and water bottles. We have collected a LARGE AMOUNT of lost items on the playground, cafeteria, quad and office. Please feel free to check the bags of lost items outside of the cafeteria before they are donated to community agencies. Writing your child's name on their property will make it easier for students to find their lost items.
I look forward to teaming up with you to support our Wildcats this year!
