Monday Memo
Cougars,
It's Homecoming Week. Let the celebrations begin! Homecoming week is a long standing part of American school culture. It serves as a platform for students, staff, families, and alumni to showcase their school spirit and pride. The week long festive events foster community and unity and allow us to celebrate student achievement, traditions, and values.
This week, our campuses and local businesses join forces to Paint Jarrell Blue, including dress-up days at the high school, local businesses waving the Cougar flag, and families proudly displaying Cougar yard signs in their neighborhoods.
One of the most significant events this week is our Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally. The parade is this Wednesday, September 20th, at 6:30 p.m. The route begins at Jarrell Middle School and ends at the Jarrell High School Stadium. A map of the parade route is attached below. Following the parade is our Pep Rally at JHS Stadium, where we will celebrate the lighting of the JC.
Both community events bring together students from different grades, clubs, local organizations, and businesses. The shared experience of planning, creating floats, and designing costumes nurtures a collaborative spirit of pride and enthusiasm for our district. It's a heartwarming experience when we see our community line the streets to cheer on the students, showing their support. Then, as we gather on the field for the pep rally, we sing the school song and motivate our players, marching band, and color guard to play hard and be their best. When we do this, the sense of unity is even stronger.
The Homecoming game is this Friday night at JHS Stadium. Our Cougars will play Taylor at 7:30 p.m. It's an exciting night, especially when our alums return to participate in the festivities. Seeing past generations interact and celebrate with current students maintains the bond between past and present, ensuring our traditions and values endure.
The crowning achievement is during halftime when we learn who is this year's Homecoming King and Queen. It's beautiful to see families walk their children down the field, beaming with pride as part of the Homecoming Court.
Homecoming week is a shared celebration of the community. There's a deep sense of pride and belonging among students, staff, families, neighbors, and alums. Together, we're honoring the past by reinforcing the importance of education and our district's role in shaping the future. Now, that's something to truly celebrate.
