Staff of the Week
Mr. Freeman, our high school English teacher, has great experience in the education system. He was a 5th-grade teacher for two years, he’s been teaching at OTC for 20 years, and is now in his second year at Verona. With him being a college professor, his students know they will be getting a great education from him. Mr. Freeman attended Kickapoo High School in Springfield. After that, he studied at College of the Ozarks and then went on to Missouri State University. As a child, he wanted to become a lawyer, but through education, he has had great success. He once had a student overcome PTSD and a traumatic brain injury all because of a paper he made him write while teaching a class over at OTC. Besides being an amazing teacher, he is also a father and a husband. He and his wife, Adina, have two children, Isabella and Ava, a senior and a 7th grader. They also have three dogs named Jake, Toby, and Triksy. On his weekends, Mr. Freeman enjoys watching TV, going fishing, and playing tennis with his daughter. Here at Verona, a lot of students think he resembles Tony Stark, but he thinks that it’s really annoying and overplayed.
Student of the Week
Alyssa Tosh was hand-picked by Mr. Freeman for student of the week. With that being said she thinks what makes her a good student is her hard work that helps her get her work done and gets good grades. Her big plans for after high school are to go to college and become a surgeon. The family she has at home are her parents and her three siblings. The pets they have at home are three dogs. She said that the worst hairstyle she’s ever had was when she had a bob cut. Her favorite clothing brand is Adidas. Her favorite band/artist is Eminem. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Mooneyham. She said that she wouldn’t change a thing about the school. What she likes about Verona is the atmosphere for sports.
